3 basic routes from very easy to a 38km mountainous ride with thousands of feet of ascent and descent! Also the "Red Bull" route - short but hectic!

Summary:
I recently revisited Coed after a few years riding elsewhere, previously I found it a bit artificial and the descents not to my taste - they were not flowing enough and angled too much towards downhill/freeride for my liking. I have to say I was really, really impressed with the mbr and red bull routes which were far better than I remember. The trails are very rocky but the mbr route in particular has some nice flowing sections, the trails all held up well even in heavy rain, and the Red Bull has a great mix of everything - even some twisty downhill fire roads which personally I love as a change from all the slow/medium speed technical stuff. Cafe and facilities A1 too.

Recommended Route:
mbr

Other recommended trails in the same area:
Red Bull, Karimoor

Summary:
I've been to Coed y Brenin quite a few times now, its a 2.5 hour journey but it's well worth it. My personal favourite is the MBR, it has a bit of everything, without being too long. The Karrimor is also excellent, but there's a lot of firetrack climbing which I get bored of quickly. I used to like the Red Bull but I can't be bothered with it now, only the last 2 sections of singletrack really seem worth all the climbing.

Recommended Route:
MBR or Karrimor. Try one, you'll love it.

Other recommended trails in the same area:
Marin trail in Betws-y-Coed. Not quite as good as Coedy but still better than what we have in Cheshire ;-)

Summary:
I've only ridden the karrimore so far, (I recomend this trail for someone who has a spare set of lungs/legs). Fairly long, very technical, some of north wales's finest, I live here i should know. There are some brilliant technical single track sections, some ace climbs. I feel that some parts could benifit from a berm or two....... BUT i'm not complaining, as it is well worth the trip. I find that half way around if you start imagining the cheese on toast from the cafe floating in front of you, you will cover the other half in no time at all. There are also some great views and spliff spots around too.....

Other recommended trails in the same area:
Gwydyr, Nant yr Arian, most of Snowdonia, (go into Energy cycles in LLanberis, ask the people in Energy Cycles where 'Telegraph Pass' is, and even if they tell you to do it from the Llanberis side, don't, attack it from the Beddgelert side TOWARDS Llanberis, OR go up, reach the top, and turn around and go!!

Summary:
I slagged it off a bit years ago, but have come here again to say some good things. I have ridden all of the trails, some of them a few times, in the last few years and have come to enjoy them greatly. The Karrimor is especially good, with some really good singletrack and some really steep rooty stuff. The Red Bull doesn't really do it for me (as you probably guessed from my previous review), but I have come to realise that it is pretty good for the beginner and a quick run. The MBR is also very good, a bit of a shortened Karrimor I felt. I think the reason I like the Karrimor is because it is a little less used and a little "wilder". I also think I am spoilt as I only come from down the road!!! The facilities and parking are excellent, the cafe staff are also friendly and helpful.

Recommended Route:
Karrimor

Other recommended trails in the same area:
Betws y Coed

Summary:
I have never attempted anything like this before so i have come with an open mind.On arrival i found the car parks to be in good condition and plentyfull, and cheap. The cafe and gift shop well stocked and the staff both friendly and helpfull. The toilets were also very clean. There was also ample space to park your bike after or before tackling the Rides close to the cafe and gift shop, A wash area was provided for cleaning your bike down with at a small cost of 50p well worth the money plenty of water and a place to hold the bike while giving it a good clean. THE RIDE !
As i said i have never done this before the last time i was on a mountian bike was 12 years ago.The only training i have done for this was a daily 5 mile road run up hill !!!.
I started with the short 7 mile run to ease me in, for a beginner this was very good start mainly fire roads and wide it was well sign posted and despite the amount of cars in the car park not a soul was seen on this run. (obviously i was the only beginer)
The next day i came back to tackle a 10 mile technical course on the orange, i found it difficult going on some of the hills (i am short fat and 40)but very enjoyable the peolpe i met around the course were friendly and helpful. The down hill sections were great and the single track excellent. I have read a lot of the reviews all very interesting "manmade tracks", "wide fire tracks" seem to have been the things most people were moaning about. IT`S FREE AND MEANT TO BE FUN GET A LIFE !!!
An excellent fun day out i am now trying to convince my work collegues to join me for another go in September !!

Recommended Route:
Dependant on skill there is somthing for all i reccommend the Orange course for fit beginners.

Other recommended trails in the same area:
if your fit and like a challenge the Red bull karrimour is long and difficult not for the beginner !
