Drive up to the old railroad. and follow the old railroad to the left on paved by-road full of tourists. Towards abandoned railway station Ospitale. When you reach three yellow houses with green roofs turn left corss the road and start uphill in diraction Val di Gotres on old Military roads (WW I)untill you reach an old military refuge meadow called Forcella Le Rosa. Go to refugio Ra stua. (Eat a bit there you will need it). This is a very rocky steep descent/downhill. From Ra stua go to San Uberto. From San Uberto follw the trail in the gorge towards Cortina d'Ampezzo.

Summary:
This is not the best but sure enough a nice trail to ride. The climb is long and some times steep, the descent is short and fast with some interesting parts in it.

Recommended Route:
As described

Once a year

Summary:
Last year, we've been riding a week around Cortina d'Ampezzo. There are a lot of challenging, beautiful trails around cortina. We bought an italian book that contained road books of the region, it was very helpful because there are only few marked tours. The book was written by "Umberto da Col", I've forgotten the title, but if you go to cortina, make sure you try to find it because the very best of the region in in the trails of this book.
If you start riding around without such a guide, you'll find yourself walking and climbing a lot, the tracks are quite radical and not always rideable.
To me, Cortina is the best and the most radical of all European MTB spots that I have visisted.

Summary:
The Dolomites are very steep and you need to be in great aerobic condition to ride up these Mt. passes. The trail gets too steep to ride up at times. Coming down is always exciting. Unfortunately, it only takes about 1/4 the time coming down so the fun is short-lived.

Recommended Route:
From Fiames go on the old railroad trail South until you reach Ospitale. Go past the railway station and then go right. The road gets very steep and you will climb about 1000m until reaching the Passo de Forca. Follow the steep road down to the Passo Tres Crocu, and then take the paved road back to Cortina.

Other recommended trails in the same area:
Dobaccio, 30 km to the North of Cortina has an excellent trail called the "Superbike" trail which is well marked and makes a great 30 km afternoon ride. At least there are a few stretches of fun single track to play on.
