The length of the trail is 52 km (32.5 miles) and consists of a techical part (about 1/3) and a flatter part (2/3). The trail can be ridden in both directions so take care on the descents

Summary:
This is a great route, you can do a relatively smooth flat ride across the plains and completely wind your self when the technical and hills kicks in. Climbs are fairly steep, descents are rather fast.

Furthermore, the views are beautifull and the variation of terrain is huge. Riding across heath, next thing you know you'll be in a forrest or a meadow. Not only the surrounding changes, terrain variation is plenty. You'll go from loose desert like sand to muddy trails, from bumpy trails littered with roots to steep climbs and from fast singletracks to wide horse ridden paths.

Recommended Route:
I strongly recommend to start in the nearby village Velp, instead of in Rheden. From there you can decide if you're gonna do the climbing and descents first, or last (my pref.). For you can ride the trail both ways. Be alert of the mtb route signs <: , for they could be a bit confusing. There are many alternative routes, risking ending up in riding circles.

Zeddam trail.

A real challange, 26 km pure pain.

Summary:
I have been here several times and prefer the technical part. The flatter part is quite sandy and a bit heavy with a freeride bike but the views are great.

Beware that the technical part can be very muddy and I once almost went over the handlebars in a descent because my front wheel almost got stuck in the mud.

Recommended Route:
Start at the visitors center and buy a plan (approx 1 Euro)
