Good God A'mighty. You can climb from Innsbruck up to Igls, and then ask & everyone can tell you how to get to the fireroads. Then just climb the switchbacks for about 4-5 hours to get to the top. Then get ready to rock n' roll. Keep an eye out for people walking the trails, and look out for those nasty drop-offs. BTW, I think you can take the tram to the top with your bike and just roll all the way down.

Summary:
The Patscherkofel Tour in Innsbruck is only for the fittest. For 1.600 meters (ca. 4.800 feet in elevation!) the track goes uphill without any break. Although the uphill is not very steep it still never leaves you any time to rest. Especially on windy days the last bit to the peak is very challenging with winds up to 160 km/h!!! I would plan at least 2 hours for the climb (my best is 1h48). The downhill can be easy (on the fireroad) or very scary (down the singletrails). Up to your skills and courage.

Recommended Route:
From Innsbruck via Igls to Heiligwasser chapel. Keep going up until after the big cross on the right the road goes short downhill into a trail. Cross the olympic skidownhill slope and keep going uphill to the top for another hour or two or three (depending pn your fitness).
From the top you can either take the same track back or take the so called Zirbenweg. There might be many hikers on weekends, but this run is awesome downhilling. Basically you can take any trail dawnhill. Sooner or later you will end up in Innsbruck in a more or less bruised state.
