Summary:
Me and a friend decided to try out the course before participating in the actual Finnmarksturen race. We wanted to know
how hard the race would be so we started the tour in Ludvika City as the real race. As this was the first time any of us rode
this trail we reserved at least 8h for the trip and it was pretty much how long it took for us to make it. Partly because we
didn't find our way so well, but that's no longer a problem. The trail consists most of country roads and lots of woodland paths, some trickier than the other, good technique comes
handy when riding these. Since the last part of the course is country road and if the weather is nice (dry) I recommend some
kind of easy rolling semi slicks. Most of the paths are pretty hard packed too so you don't need any grotesque swamp tires
on the bike to get around the track. When riding this trail you will be able to enjoy some wonderful views of lakes, deep forests, picturesque villages and
enchanting surroundings. If you riding on a weekday there are several possibilities to buy snacks and fill your water bottles during the trip as you will
pass small villages with shops and gas stations, most of them are open on weekends too but be sure to pack with you some
kind of food anyway. The track will be modified for this years (2001) Finnmarkstur, some of the most trickiest parts will be removed or the track
re-routed. I'm looking forward to try out the new improved trail. The track length, 112 km will be the same though. I recommend this trail for anyone who are looking for a nice ride!

Recommended Route:
Follow the Finnmarkstur route. It's pretty well marked out but can be tricky to follow at some point, a map is recommended.

Summary:
Excellent trails in spectacular country - only 2 hours from Stockholm airport. Locals made us really welcome - check out the tourist info centre in town & Lindbergs CycleSports near to the start of the course. Thanks to Peter & Andreas from this shop for the days guided tour!

Recommended Route:
Finnmarksturen route was all we did - good enough!

Other recommended trails in the same area:
Excellent trails also in Frederiksberg, 45 min drive away. Very well marked, forest, single track, logging trail and gravel roads. Good maps available. Each trail 10 to 35 km, enough new trails for 2 + days.
