Carretera de las Aguas

Average Rating:    (4 of 5)

Miles and miles of fire roads, with tricky and narrow singletracks. A good way to escape from the city and have a good time on your bike. We call it here our "pulmn verde". There are lots drinking posts and bars nearby the tracks.

Summary:
Trail to my work place.
A varied combination of uphill, mostly, single-track (keeps you on you toes) followed by wide track. The downhill section on the other side of the mountain is a long and narrow, rutted single-track, requiring concentration (specially in winter), with a couple of short breaks on wide comfortable tracks.
80% is single-track and approximately 1% is on road.
The area (Collserola) is heavily wooded and you seem to be riding inside a narrow tunnel in the flora.

Recommended Route:
Museu de La Ciencia - Carretera de las Aiguas - carretera Tibidabo - can Torres - can Borrell - can Coll - Park Tecnologic del Valles - Sant Marsal - Universidad Autonoma

Other recommended trails in the same area:
One can easily have a superb time getting hopelessly lost in the hundreds of single-tracks inside Collserola.

Summary:
Nice ride on the trails behind the mountains outside of Barcelona. It is for some a bit of a huff getting
up and over the crest below the TV tower, but the downhill on the other side is worth it amd the rest of the biking is big fun. The trails were a bit rutted out from the massive rains weeks before and today (10 of december 2001) covered in white and sometimes it was impossible to trace a trail. It is nice living in Barcelona, with nice trails and beaches to relax, so near by. Take care where, and from who, you rent a bike, called by a friend "miserable piece of crap" !!!

Recommended Route:
Barcelona - Font Groga - Sant Cugat - Valldoreix - Vallvidrera - Barcelona

Other recommended trails in the same area:
