About 40% is railway sleepers which form the ascent and can be steep and technical.the descent is a bit rough and steep with a few switchbacks.it levels off in the last 2k

its a bit hard going on the way up and riding on the sleepers is "technical"at times.the descent is spectacular one of the best{worst}ive ever done.its a bit rocky with some switchbacks involved.damage to machine and man{woman}can be expected.the descent ends at the old mines where cast-off heaps can provide some fun.from here you can take the fire-road or the singletrack which is parallel but on the edge of the lake back to the car-park

Recommended Route:
follow the signs
