Holterberg Tour

There is a red trail which is easy to ride (beginners). A blue one is nice and a little bit tougher. The black trail can be very tough as there are often slippery conditions. In Holland these routes are the best there are. Maximum height is 80 meters, but conditions vary.

Nijverdal is a small town in the Eastern part of The Netherlands. On the way from Zwolle to Almelo and almost arriving in town you will see the 'bezoekerscentrum' on the right. From here you can choose one of the three trails.

Summary:
The blue and red routes are indeed not very technically or physically demanding. As said a little of these routes the tracks become more interesting, but it is not allowed to go there. The black route is more interesting, especially when it is a little more dry. At this side of the main road (Zwolle-Almelo) it is allowed to go off the track and this is certainly recommended, because there are some serious climbs and descends. Try it once!

Recommended Route:
Black and around

Ridden Trail:
Every few months

Summary:
The red route is basically four turns around the Holterberg, with one hill, but you can make it interesting by making some side trips up and down the hill. Unfortunatly, the most interesting up and down hill is in the off limit area. Maybe the park "rangers" can change that.
The black trail is not to hard, but uncomfortable because of the mud and puddles with water.

Recommended Route:
Take the red one but make some side trips up the hill, then suddenly it becomes interesting.
The black one is difficult due to a lot of mud. Only one or two short uphills.

Summary:
I would like too say that the north route is very ok, although I get the impression that some very good tracks a left out. Though the track is very technical, but there were no good downhills. The south track is in one word boring. You make four times a corner and then your back. It is a pitty because I know there are some very good tracks there.
