Lots of forest tracks, a fair amount of climbing on the way up.

Summary:
A round-trip showing the variety and beauty of Bymarka. You go on "tractor-roads" (Driftsveien), more narrow trails (up to Fjellseter and on to Lian). Nice view of Trondheim (170 000 inhabs) with the fjord most of the time. You pass Kobberdammen - a small lake - one of Bymarkas "pearls".

Recommended Route:
Baklia, Driftsveien Elsterparken, Tikneppen, Kobberdammen, Fjellseter, Lagmannseter, Lian, Kyvannet, Baklia

Other recommended trails in the same area:
Around Jonsvatnet, the biggest lake close to Trondheim - along the main country road (one car every 15 minutes)- not really off-road, but lots of ups and downs - partly unpaved, and with a real "nature" feeling.

Summary:
This route has it all, broad and rocky in the start, going to nice fast trails, and the end has a lot of really narrow trails with sharp turns and some drops. This was the route that made me buy a full suspension bike.

Recommended Route:
To the top, Studenterhytta, and all the way down to the sea side of Trondheim.

Other recommended trails in the same area:
Estenstadmarka, generally shorter, but at least just as fun to ride.

Summary:
But avoid the weekends. Lots of hikers around.

Recommended Route:
Three singletrack favourites:
From Grkallen to Grnlia - gnarly but fast
From Skistua to Koppardammen - steep & technical
All graveled singletrack on Geitfjellet.

Reviewed by: Frode Frosk , from Trondheim, Norway

Summary:
Many shops in Trondheim have a very detailed map (both in a winter and a summer edition) with all the possible routes to go (many!!!). I recommend these - ride a discovery tour in fabolous Bymarka!

Recommended Route:
You can start where You want. I recommend to start from Baklia, Lian, Nilsbyen or Gransen. There's plenty tracks in all categories.

Other recommended trails in the same area:
Estenstadmarka (more hills, not so many singletracks).
