Cross Country Rider Summary: Vogelweh is a small enclave in the western portion of Kaiserslautern. The trails in and around Vogelweh are part of a much larger trail network stretching for thousands of kms. The trails in the southern part of Kaiserslautern, about 5 km away, are even better. See Kaiserslautern for more info.

, from Ramstein AB Summary: Alot of fire roads and singletrack once you get off the fire roads. Need to be careful with the hikers along the trail, some areas tend to be blind corners. Some areas turn to asphalt that may lead out of the park. I have not truly experimented with all the trails in the Vogelweh area. Alot of the trails inter-connect with other trails leading out to other areas. Recommended Route: Out the back gate of Vogelweh, ride about a 1+, you will come to a slight climb towards the Rod and Gun Club. There will be a left turn ("Y"), there is a gate, once in a while it is up. If not just ride around it. Your on the fire road. Directions, you can take your pick and experiment each path.

, from Southern Pines NC Summary: Starts off easy, slow up hill, and a turn to the right. Now you are on a long ridgeline trail that will take you about 2 miles back towards the ponds. Set you odometer and keep climbing and working to the left. Once you arrive at the ponds, follow the road around to the right. You can either take some singletrack to the left or continue straight up for a nice "Leg Burner". The single track is a must if you can find it. Chris Burke knows the secret, find him for the truth. Spectacular forest, fun, but demanding trails. Once there was an annual MTB race held here. It began at the Sport Halle in Vogelweh behind the tennis courts. a great place also to begin your ride. Alex won her first race here! Recommended Route: Begin at ball field down the road leading to Rod and Gun Club. Don't let Mary or any of the other antique hookers who frequent the road and woods "scare ya" Other recommended trails in the same area: Near POLEIZI training center, both sides of autobahn A-6 Enkenbach-Alsenborn area, trails go out toward WSA.

, from Ramstein, Germany Summary: I agree there are lots of great trails in the Pfalzwald. I was stationed at Ramstein AB for four years and loved the riding (wish I could say the same for the weather!). I can't recommend any one particular trail as any will take you on a grand adventure, I would advise you find a local German volksmarch map (or any other trail map), since they have better details on old castle ruins and other interesting things to look for while riding. Out near Sembach AB I was riding up along Donnersberg (literally translates to "Thunder Mountain", and found two old castle ruins that I had ridden close by on several previous occassions without noticing. If you remember just one thing I tell you, make it this: Your time in Germany will be over one day, so make the most of it, because once you've gone you will really miss it. I know I do! Other recommended trails in the same area: Bad Kreuznach (ride up along the peaks to the two castles (Burg Rhineburg-something and the other one on the B-48 that I can't remember at this time)
