Primo very technical singletrack. Good ride for different fitness levels since it is extremely tight and rocky.

Summary:
Ridden 8 Nov 08 This trail is quite technical. I was fortunate enough to have the folks from Spangdahlem Air Base show me the loop:) I rode it on my single speed with the gear ratio of 32/20. This made for a good work out! The trail was very wet when I rode it which made it a little difficult. I'd love to make the trip again and ride it in the summer when it's not as wet. Overall I'd have to recommend this trail if your in the area. Be on the look-out for hikers as they fequent this area. The total loop was about 18km mostly tight single track with several wooden bridge crossings. Bring a camera as you will have wonderful views!

Summary:
For the most part, the Manderschied trails are singletrack and very technical. The better shape you're in, the better time you'll have here. This is one helluva work out. I do not recommend riding out here when it is wet and rainy. There are slick rocks all along the trails, steep drop offs and tight switchbacks. A very scenic trek, and a great ride for the more experienced riders.

Recommended Route:
The routes listed in the other reviews are easy to find. I recommend checking everything out.

Summary:
See other review. Great trails with a town and castle to tour. Be careful when the log bridges are wet and snot slick. Might I suggest walking across them. Don't ride if narrow off camber steep single track isn't your thing. Do ride if narrow off camber tree root infested, I can't get enough single track is your thing. I think a peak to peak ride can be done starting from the parking lot circle north and east(ie so you will be looking south and down on the castles) continue clockwise and end up back at the parking lot. A good map of the trails is necessary and I believe can be purchased in the vistor center.

Recommended Route:
Good route suggestion listed. Another longer route is to ride the trails along the ridge south and west of town for an out and back or a loop

Summary:
All single track is off-camber with patches of slate up-heaved,and wooden log bridges throughout, winding along the river that passes between both castles. Picturesque views along the way overlooking evergreen forests.

Recommended Route:
From the parking lot between both castles ride south 300 yds on a paved jogging path. Dirt / slate off-camber single track starts on left, continue south through several switch-backs down the 500ft hill. Cross the bridge at the bottom and keep south following single track along a series of mountain like hills. This trail ends at a paved road continue north with a 3.5 K climb switch-backing every .5 K, reaching the top follow the GEO Route signs back to the castles.
TOTAL RIDE APPROX : 15 K
