At the parkinglot there are three ways to go. Far left starts out paved and is the family route for easy vinyard riding and leads to other trail systems as well. the other two both go in the same general direction (up) but the right is more of a real trail and will become pretty challenging before the two ways meet up again. There is a ton of singletrail in this area so just look for it (hint#1,the roads off of the right side). there is a tough xc race held here every year and you can find everything from logging road cruising to short knee destroying climbs and downhill only uglyness.
Deidesheim is right between the cities of Ludwigshaven and heidelburg. there is an exit for it on the A65 autobahn. At the circle leading you into town, take the left hand route towards the bahnhof (train staitoin). Just past the bahnhof take a right into the town center(cobblestone streets). This will eventually guide you left. take a right at the end (blacktop), and then as that road ends take the next right as well. Look right away for an intersecstion with a smaller road on the left and a larger one on the right. On the far side on the right there is a small park/restplace/ whatever with a fountain, and then the gas station. Take the smaller way left and uphill. you will leave town and enter an alley between wine groves. At the end of this road take a left and the parkinglot/trailhead is at the end of the road. Its easier than it sounds and you can ask anyone who is a local. Its a popular hiking spot.
Summary: This whole area is an undiscovered euphoria of trails. Great climbs, lots of trail options, rocky fast decents. It's just waiting for you to find a Pfalzerwald Ost Wanderweg map to explore it. Next to Rodalben this is my favorite riding in Germany. If you spend some time you can hook up an awful lot of single track. If you have a good map the trails are marked really well
Recommended Route: Buy a good map and start from just about any town on B39, you also can access the weinstrasse by A61 Basel to A65 Neustadt. I love to leave from either diedesheim or Neustadt. You can ride single track almost the entire ride but make sure you watch the contour lines when planning your route, some of the trails going up can be quite steep for you uphill route, you may end up carrying if not careful. God explore you won't be dissappointed.
Other recommended trails in the same area: konigstuhl, Weisser stein, Rodalben, Landstuhl, Kasierslautern, Frankenstein castle route Darmstade

Ridden Trail: Once a week

Summary: his place is so sweet that I drive an hour each way (alone!) every weekend to ride it. It is the first place I have found in germany that compares to bay area stuff. Im still exploring it but Ive already got a 20km out and back route that is 90% singletrail. If your interested in the race held there everey spring, then check out www.rv-edelweiss-deidesheim.de .
Recommended Route: there aretrails all over the place. to start just go up the road on the right side and say on it. It will become technical and stupid steep at the end. When you meet up with the road at the end, just look for the singletrail directly across the road and start smiling.
Other recommended trails in the same area: Im sure there is more around there, but I havent found anything else this good yet. there is some decent riding here around ettlingen, but CA really spoiled me for sweet singletrack. if your in the region and can ride advanced terain or are an xc racer(Iwas atop 10 sport rider in the US, getting my ass kicked pretty bad here in expert)than feel free to get in touch to ride and hang.
