Les Chemins du Soleil - Grenoble Sisteron

Average Rating:    (4 of 5)

Mountain-biking through the Pre-Alps, from high plateaux to lavender fields…

Once the snow has melted, the Chemins du Soleil offer two routes through unspoilt countryside across the Pre-Alps: from the Rhône Valley to the Southern Alps (Valence - Gap - Sisteron) and from the Vercors to the Mediterranean Sea (Grenoble - Sisteron - Digne-les-Bains – Castellane - Nice).

In all there are 1200 km of extremely well waymarked biking trails that explore the natural and cultural richeness of this mountainous region. We have joined forces with the French Cycling Federation (FFC) to create these officially recognised long-distance biking trails, a guarantee of quality which puts the Chemins du Soleil in the top 7 longest officially recognised long-distance mountain biking trails in France.

This fantastic long-distance mountain biking trail is quite a challenge for both you and your bike, and is usually done in 3 stages between 5 and 7 days. But its challenging nature should not put off those who prefer to travel at a gentler pace, because with lots of accommodation options along the way you can complete it in shorter stages, taking the time to experience this ever-surprising region, people, countryside and heritage at a more comfortable speed. The southern part of the route is more demanding- above all in terms of handling- what is more it will be necessary to shorten the stages. On the Chemins du Soleil, there is something to tempt and please everyone! But with 1200 km of trails, care and respect are the order of the day. The route must be followed in the north-south direction. Or from east to west, since this is how the waymarking is arranged.
