Summary:
There are 4 fantastic courses within 1 chairlift ride from Les Get town centre.

The Red egg car takes you up to Les Gets 1... a relatively easy downhill course, but super fast and super fun as a warm up... plenty of fast open bermed corners. And you can ride the 4X course afterwards for a laugh. A few 100 metres down the road to the right of the start of this course there's another trail we dubbed 'The Gulley'. This trail is far more technical... includes some nice 2-3ft steps between narrow rock gullies and plenty of rooty and rocky stuff. A great little trail.

On the other side of the valley the trails get a little crazy!! The Du Mont Chery DH course is truly fantastic. At 3.8km long, with a 620m drop it's one brake cooking mutha of a trail. From the start it's fast and open, with a couple of big drops and plenty of small table tops leading in to berms. Then it narrows, steepens, and passes through some trees before dropping you out on to a road... a good opportunity to stop, let you brakes cool off and wait for you mates - cue lots of grins and stories about heroic recoveries and sphincter clenching moments! The next section is tighter and starts off very fast before an enclosed wooded section with big roots tests your bike handling skills. After another opportunity to re-group the final section throws a very steep, very loose 50 meter drop with a long left hand corner at the bottom.... watching the unprepared tourists trying to ride this section on almost fully rigids with rim brakes and no armour is a sight to behold.... you can see the fear in their eyes :-))

The there's the Tennis Court run. Can't remember how we got to this one, but it's definitely THE most technical trial I have ever ridden. VERY steep in places with a small stream making it constantly wet for the first half. Big rocks and roots mean you have to carry more speed than you feel comfortable with and when you get through that section there something else to challenge you... a VERY steep section through some trees (read very, very rooty) with a nice 3' drop in to a stream & 90 deg corner at the bottom (with big drop off to the left)... most of our party chose to walk most of this course, and I wouldn't fancy it one bit on a hardtail, but it's do-able on a 4-5" FS bike if you have the nerve/skill.

And I haven't even mentioned the '10%er'!!

Recommended Route:
So many trails in such a small area, any one of which would be World Class in it's own right. Get a flight to Geneva, get to Morzine or Les Gets and ride your ass off for a week.... unbelievably good riding.

Other recommended trails in the same area:
All the Morzine side as well... the B1, the gravalanche, the Hour 10, so much rolling single track.... a week to remember!!

Walker who shout "Allez, Allez" not "get off our trail".

Just the tops

Summary:
i did this trail on a rented i-drive, compared to what we have london its amazing, it drops at least 600 metres, i came off 3 times and i wasn't going hard. its not as well signposted as the morzine one (they have warning signs before the big obstacles)the forest sections in particular are so hard (very steep, very rooty, lots of sharp corners).
it is better than the morzine one though, although not as fast its much more technical.
it also has the deval karts at the bottom, give this a go, its mental even though i managed to trash my elbow. there is also a dual course in avoriaz

Recommended Route:
go to the top of the chair lift, ride down.

Other recommended trails in the same area:
world cup downhill in morzine, dual course in avoriaz and the guided all day ride - about 5 hours of solid downhill. beautiful

Summary:
This course is a peach!it has everything. The more that you ride it, the more that you want to do it again. The trouble is that if the weather is not too kind then the chairlift ride is very exposed and has you doing the funky chicken by the time you get off! I was told that this was an old world cup course from a few years ago. This years course could be seen but in many places had almost grown over by July, it has got cattle and electric fances all over it now. You should have a look at the road jump though, turn right at the top of the first lift and there it is about 150 yards down the road/track.

Recommended Route:
Use the Mt Chery lifts (skilift then chairlift) and turn left at the top. About 200 yards on there is a wooden start hut for the permanently marked DH course.

Other recommended trails in the same area:
Firstly go to the tourist office and buy the 'carte des circuits VTT'- a specific route map for mtb's, it's only 1.50. This has got 20 different x/c routes all graded by colour like the skiers do. The routes are then signposted but a proper map is still very useful to confirm things when the 'simplified' tourist map gets a bit vague. One excellent route that is not on the map is as follows. Take the red egg up to Les Chavannes and turn left out of the lift station. About 300 yards on the left is a small signposted track leading off into the trees. This is a marvellous singletrack blast back down to the village. It is very rocky and rooty and you arms will be screaming in pain by the time that you are out of the trees.follow your nose and keep heading down, at one point the track crosses a road and by some houses, keep going although the track is a bit vague here you will come to a 'Lethal'when wet wooden bridge then it's back down into the village. Buy map 3528ET 1:25,000 by IGN. The ski lifts only work during July and August unless for a specific event. A weekly pass costs 30 and covers an area that reaches as far as switzerland. There are a couple of decent bike shops in both Les Gets and Morzine, but beware, Shimano kit in particular is frighteningly expensive, I saw an XT rear mech for 85 in Morzine. Hope spares are non existant and if you're not running discs and the weather is bad you WILL shred a set of brake pads every day! Remember pads are cheaper than rims so don't skimp on them.

Summary:
Awesome is not the word for this place! they have
an annual free raid-basically a free ride race where
you ride the ski lifts up and racre down 8 mountains... The Morzine DH course is stunning and very quick with
loads of sweeping bermed switchbacks, some rooty steeps, funnelling gullies and even a tunnel! Best riding Ive ever done (lived in US for two years
and rode all over there), if you can get to Morzine/
Les Gets do so. For brits easyjet fly to geneva
cheaply. for more info check out

Summary:
It's a worldcup downhill..... watch out it was a wet race in May so the course is very rutted, especially at the top. It's very fast for the top section, deceptive as there are some tricky sections..... Big fire road jump - watch out for the electric fence which may be up! Cool roty section, quarry section (cliffs!), fast open section, tricky steep single track, more road jumps.... Unless you are a world cup class rider (which I'm not!) this is one hell of a challange (the world cup riders call it easy...). You will have a grin the size of the mountain it self when you get it dialled! Awsome!

Other recommended trails in the same area:
There is also a easier downhill puropose built for visitors, this is taped and you won't encounter fences, cows, gots and walkers on it! Also go down the road to Morzine for the permanet downhill there, it's used for the french nationals - cool stuff!
