Well, there's not much trail per se, but rather a playground, a valley of sweet badland. It's not Moab, but the ups and downs that this site offers is a welcome change from flat doubletrack.
To the west of the valley there's some singletrack, but I don't think it's well groomed or anything. In any case, I last visited this site in June '98 so I doubt the singletrack is very rideable, and not a lot of Regina bikers spend a lot of time here.
From Regina, drive south on the road to Weyburn, then make a right ~40km south of town where the sign says "Road to Avonlea". Just joking. There's a huge grain bin there, and the turnoff is well marked. Keep going west towards Avonlea, and watch out for the enormous potholes and pavement cracks. Right before the town, you descend into the valley, and you'll see a small dirt lot before the descent. Park in the dirt lot, ride the doubletrack going north, and you'll be right at the valley.
Summary: I can't believe anyone would want to destroy such a beautiful part of Canada's natural history beneath their bike tires. I live clear across the country and had been to the badlands only once, but it's beauty struck me deeply.
Recommended Route: Bike somewhere else.

Summary: I thoroughly enjoy this area as it offers as close to desert riding as I can get. Many areas to hone your technical ability and balancing skills. Various drops to catwalk off of from 1 to probably 5 feet. Advice from someone who knows: DO NOT GO AFTER IT HAS RAINED. YOU WILL EXPERIENCE THE WORST MUD EVER CREATED. P.S: Watch for cactus and cows going through the farmer's field.
Recommended Route: From the dirt lot right before the valley head into the farmer's field and you should eventually happen upon the badlands.

Summary: Disclaimer: *Check with a shop or with someone in Avonlea before riding!* The Avonlea area has had some bad land access conflicts, so check before. It's still on the South Sask. MTB club's ride list, so I'm pretty sure it's legal, but as I said it's been a year and a half since riding here. This was one of my first real MTB rides, and the only off-road ride I'd done before this was Nicolle Flats at Buffalo Pound (woo-hoo!), so the site has sentimental value for me. The clay makes for a real cool riding surface, but it's also slick, so watch out. It's sensitive too, so ride, don't slide. The steep drops and lines in the clay really make this site fun to ride, but watch out for endos. Time has passed since I rode here, so the memory's a bit blurry, but I remember lots of cool lines and a killer initial drop-in to the valley.
Recommended Route: Like I said in the main page.
Other recommended trails in the same area: Wascana Trails has just been re-worked with some sweet new singletrack on the East side. White Track is good, I'm sure people are getting it ready for Canada Cup 2000. Claybank has a recent riding site with really extreme riding, check it out.
