Summary:
White tail has actually changed its name to Blue Mountain , (2001) so if you here people talking about the longest steepest single track in saskatchewan, at this new place called Blue Mountain, they are talking about Whitetail. The owner Lives out there and aslong as you have come out to ride some good trails , and are not planning on littering, crossing posted fences, , chasing cows , or boozing he is one of the nicest guy you will meet. The site (whitetail/Blue Mountain) Is alot bigger then most people think. There are a few trails that Stan (the owner) has posted indicating some leisurely trails through the hills, but if you want to ride most of the best stuff I suggest taking the race course from the past 3 years. It will take you throught every type of riding, but its hard on the body. There are no parts on it that a beginer couldn't get past , just as long as they take it slow on the down hills and walk on the uphills. But there course is more focused on the intermediate to expert ridder. Because if you go half out on the down hills you might find yourself asking why you aren't wearing a full faced helmet. And you might ask your self why you even bought the stupid bike about half way up any of the many LONG uphills. ( I think one of the is actually a about 2 Km)> If you want to JUSt ride the hardest Steepest stuff, go to spoke and pedal and get a local to show you around. There is camping spots availble , so you can stay a weekend , or a month. There is a cafateria, a 100 foot hight zip line accross a HUGE valley. A play ground , a cafeteria, showers , a small lake, beach volleyball, and a 2 or 3 story high 3 sided climbing wall. GREAT PLACE!!!!!!! I recomend not only to bikers but to any one who likes it outside.

i've riden all over saskatchewan quite a bit with in the last 3-4 years and i'd have to whitetail is the most interesting and grueling place of them all. olny 30 minutes from north battleford(if you dont mind a little speed) and you have some of the biggest hills the praries have to offer. the owner of the resort is extremely friendly and if you dont' know your way around there and would like a guided tour or just a point in the right direction im sure he'd help you out. the trails range from very steep single track climbs to open ski run downhills, or vice versa. very technical in some areas or very flat and easy in others. do some exploring. its got what ever you could think of

Summary:
I raced here in June at the whitetail, and the site is impressive. My two laps consisted of the hardest physical exertion I've likely ever experienced in my life. The climbs are hard, but that downhill singletrack makes up for it. Even with a rigid aluminium ride, that downhill singletrack behind the lodge along the side of the hill totally rocked. Overall, it's a recommended ride, but you'll be dead at the end.

Recommended Route:
From North Battleford, go north towards Meadow Lake, then turn off onto the Rabbit Lake highway, then continue 'till the Whitetail signs are observed, then turn off.

I can recommend that you not waste your time at the Battlefords Prov. Park, because their "mountain bike" trail is a cross-country ski trail without any form of track to ride on in it. The hiking trail is pretty fun, but I wish that the person who named the trail an MTB trail take out a bike and try to ride it.
