Freight Trail

The trail is an old road that was used to haul freight , lumber and supplies to Montreal Lake . Be prepared for wild life, as bears , moose , elk , all live in the area .27 kms in length is not for the beginner. You find road , hard pack , moss, water where the beavers have been busy, all in all about a 4 hour ride one way . If you start on the north end of the trail , you will find more down hills than up .We took the road back 25 k, about 1.5 hrs resting often as it is mainly uphill giving a grand reward from the look out at the top of the hill .Spectacular scenery , as it was fall with all the colors , fresh air experence to the max . Be prepared for trouble as the trail is not patrolled daily .

Summary: I rode part of the Freight trail this summer starting from the entrance(2nd one) across from Namekus Lake and rode back to Waskesiu. For an easy trail there is one long hard uphill on it heading north. There is one low spot by a bog where I did not ride. The trail is overgrown with grass and not well travelled so it was slow going. It seemed like a better hiking or ski trail than mountain biking. The trail was alright but I want to try the Anglin Lake trail sometime.
