Vallee Pruneau

Vallee Pruneau is an ski center that went bancrupt 7 years ago. The new promoters wanted a place where Mt biker would have their own place, not such as Batiscan where we have to share the place with walker and others like. The T-Bar bring you to the top of the main vallee where there 9 DH/FR trails are availables ranging from intermediate in the Familiale to very extreme in the Richard. Every trails contains a lot of Shore and shortcuts if you want to test your skills. Some freeride sections are considered scary by Shore guy... The Coupe du Quebec will held a competition there in mid-June in DH and Dual.
At the time of writing this, barely 7 km of heavy XC are available because some trails were heavyly damaged last winter and there still 9 km to clean (should be done by summer '02). I'm a XC rider and i can ride almost every trail in the place with some very occasionnal walking. You might consider this a pretty good technical pratice!
Unlimited TBar lifting for whole day is 15$cnd. The site offer camping facility. Toilet/shower/water are available on site and the village is few hundred feets aways in car to get some food.
35 minutes from Trois-Rivieres, take the 55 North, exit Grandes-Piles and its 10 minutes ahead. Less than 8 minutes from Grand-Mere also. From Montreal, count about 1h35 with the departure in the friday night traffic ;)
Summary: This is a very good place for downhill biking in my opinon for a mere 15$. There is a T-bar that brings you to the top of the hill and ten amazing trails to go down from. The two Coupe Quebec trails are pretty intense, they require quite some experience to take with ease. There is lots of northshore and cool drops to take aswell. To be honest, I am a XC biker but couldnt resist taking to DH trails. (i really like downhill now :D) Unfortunately, my two friends trashed their XC Norcos and I trashed my XC GT so dont take an XC bike on the DH trails ;). (broken rear suspension, hub, etc.)
Recommended Route: Only got one recommendation. The street vallee pruneau is located on is pretty hard to find, but there is a yellow sign indicating it so keep an eye out for the sign.
