Summary:
Highly technical trail with difficult descends and ascends. It loops into other trails, giving you a great 2-3 hour ride if you want. All the but up stuff has been taken down (Whale Trail), but the natural terrain still makes ita difficult, but fun trail.

Other recommended trails in the same area:
Foreplay/Power line

Summary:
I got discouraged trying to build on MO as I put a teeter totter on a log a few years ago and it got ripped down. Not sure who did it and why, as the TT was off the main section of trail. I would recommend building on foreplay and/or the whale. I don't think I would build any "new" trails in the Gats as this is a sure fire way to get MTBing kick out of the park. There was some moron who built a DH trail off skyline last year. I would probably try to build in the "NCC" land (MO/the Wahle etc..). If you look at what happened in the North shore the Cypress trail got ripped down as (I think)they were in a Provincial park (+ the West Vancouver Municipality). I wouldn,t start dropping tree either as that is a sure fire way to piss people off. Just my opinions Cheers

Summary:
I have been enjoying MO now for 5 years and I find that it is a great training trail. I go out several times a week during the season and must say; it is a bit of everything for everyone.
Since the total age of our 3 person group normally tops 120 years, we use it more for cardio than the stunts of the Whale. Btw, I skied the Whale the other day and was waist deep in snow - not a XC ski friendly trail but, MO is!!!
I still walk parts of MO (sounds pansy - I know) but, I don't have a stunt practice park in my back yard as some of the reviewers do (perhaps I'll build one for my son - and live through him), and perhaps I need to replace my aging bike with an up to date one that is more freeride.
I am a bit surprised and regional centric attitudes; guys (Terry especially), remember, they are not your trails, you are just closer to them. Terry, ...think OIL, "Its not your...closer to it".
Wrt the Whale, gents unless you are planning annual maintenance, you should have used less indoor nails and more galvanized nails - well done though.

See as below, there are actually 4 different ways in.

Summary:
Lets make sure we are talking about the same trail, MO is a cross country trail...That means a significant amount of pedeling is required in both directions. If you don't like to work stick to the chairlifts. MO is a great trail for the advanced rider to hone their skills on, I have yet to meet anyone who can stay on their bike for the whole trail, either direction. The best way to get there is through foreplay, it too is a great training trail, less challenging than MO but still a great workout. Foreplay is the perfect trail for an intermediate rider to build thier conditioning and riding skills, it has a good variety of obstacles from end to end. The whale is short and incomplete but what is there is very challenging, I would recommend the builders take safety into consideration since some less experienced riders will eventually find it.
