Cross Country Rider Summary: Don't come here unless you are a DH rider. The XC trail system (if it can be called that) is not well built or thought out. Most sections are simply ski area maintenance roads -- gravel road or gravel double track. Many sections simply follow natural water runoff lines, leading to increased erosion. They could use some IMBA trail planning courses for sure. The area has great potential, but remains untapped. With the amount (and quality) of the terrain they have, they could build a top destination for XC riding, similar to Kingdom Trails. They certainly have the money to do it, with the outrageous fees. Too bad they don't have any vision.

, from Ct, USA Summary: Wow. This was some technical stuff! Bring your A game because you are going to NEED it! Some of the double black diamond MTB trails are the hardest I have ever ridden and not for nothing but that's pretty good considering my 5+ years of MTB'ing. Some parts definitely require walking unless you show up with some serious DH travel in the front and rear of your rig. There is a sweet 4 cross (kind of like dual slalom) course with some nice jumps and sick berms. A very cool but not so channeling "bridges" (north shore) course setup as well. Also, for those who complain about poor cross country trails you probably shouldn't be riding at a mountain were most riders take the gondola up. All in all, VERY sweet with some VERY tough sections. If you spend some time looking around you can even find some sick man made obstacles on some of the double black diamond trails. Recommended Route: Down. Head for "les telecabines" (gondola's) and pick your route. Take the double and single black diamond trails if you dare and if you feel you have good MTB experince. Other recommended trails in the same area: N/A

, from Toronto Canada Summary: My parents had a chalet at the base of the resort for several years and as a result have ridden the trails frequently over the years. Given the potential that this site has for mountainbiking, one cannot be more disappointed with the trail network. Regarding the X Country trails, the percentage of single track is miniscule as most of the network overlaps the Ski trails. In southern Ontario where I live the mountain biking is far more impressive despite more limited space and a less rugged topography than Monte Ste Anne. One can only dream of the potential of Monte Ste. Anne, if only the park authorities would take the effort to construct a trail network that accomodates the X Country MTB rider. The down hill trails are better, but I much prefer the technical and endurance challenges of cross country riding, something these trails don't provide. Recommended Route: I've ridden all the trails but its been a while.

, from Beaupre Summary: the gondola will take you to 800 meter altitude and 625 of 'denivelation' the view on the st-lawrence is beautiful. From the top there is many choices between xc and downhill. None are very easy but a beginner can still make it by walking 2-3 times for a few meters. There are some extremely difficult downhill trails so steap and narrow you will freak. Yes some trails are damaged but most have been repared last automn and its still getting better. Personnaly I like damaged trails if I didnt, I would road bike! So the place is not as bad as some say and it has got nice again. Gondola is a must, 18$ for the whole day. This year Mont-S-A is the only official training center for the olympic and the world cup final is set at the end of august so dont worry, the place is by far the best. You can try la Coupe du Monde wich is the downhill track and compare yourself with the best: 7 min 40 seconds is about the best that I've seen last year at the world cup. But expect between 10 and 15 depending on your level and also expect to walk a bit at first unless your a pro downhiller. On Xc, there is everything you need and enough km to get lost many times. Recommended Route: 138 from quebec, 25 minutes easy easy. Other recommended trails in the same area: For downhill: Coupe du Monde
