Summary:
attempted this trail in early october 2006. It was hard to find, and the sign for the trail's beginning is unreadable. It is very overgrown, and strewn with chunks of waste concrete (Fill?) it runs so ridiculously close to the edge of the sydenham river that I went for a swim, and my riding partner didn't even attempt the section. This trail (or the first 5 minutes of it which I got to see) is badly in need of a cleanup. I lost a derailleur 100 ft after the dip in the river, after one of hundreds of stray branches wrapped itself around my rear derailleur and snapped it off. I really think it needs some TLC before I ride Crampshake again.
To be fair, I can only review the first 300 meters of the trail. I'll review the rest if i ever get back there.

Recommended Route:
The starting point to this trail is at the back of the cemetary. you actually have to drive through the cemetary to the very back by the river to find the entrance. In a clearing at the back you will see a poorly maintained sign that used to say CRAMPSHAKE it says considerably less now, but the sign is still there, nailed to a tree about 15 ft off the ground. the trail starts to the left.

Other recommended trails in the same area:
Murphy trails north of Petrolia - good technical riding, and a good workout. nice long trail, with lots of ups and downs. you can spend an hour or more here no problem. you need to sign a waiver to ride (available at the bicycle shop in Sarnia) and contribute a few bucks to ride, but it's well worth it.

Wawanosh Wetlands between telfer rd and Modeland in Sarnia. a light workout, not technical, but a good starter course, well maintained. pretty flat, but you can get up some good speed, and it very close to Sarnia.

Lorne C Henderson conservation area - enjoyable ride, good but relativey short trail. lots of ups and downs

Summary:
Crampshake was a decent ride last season but has become even more fun with the addition of new trail. Gunn-Rita just rocks! The late flood was a bit hard on the older section but is cleaned up now. Markings are scarce anymore due to either punk kids stealing signs or trying to keep certain routes hidden from their pranks.

Recommended Route:
Getting to the back of the cemetary gets you to the trailhead for the old section. From the drop-in to Molly's Loop you can take a hard left to take CLinK out. Look for the concrete bridge that allows Molly's Creek to pass under the road and go under it to lead you out to The Other Side.

Summary:
This is a technical trail that is lots of fun, but it is poorly marked out. I went on the 5th of June and some spots were pretty soupy. Some cool wood bridges going over obsticles. I've read other reviews about other parts of the trail but i couldn't find them.

Recommended Route:
I started near the cemetary and you can pick a direction from there.

Summary:
The sickness continues!! Another whole huge section(s) has been slapped onto what already lies waiting. Gotta be pushing another 10-15K. If you thought Crampshake rocked before....just wait 'til you get to the OTTTTTHER SIDE-DA-DA-DA-AAA. Hillier terrain, faster tracks, deeper backwoods, creepier climbs. The only downside....you may never want to ride the old section again??? (...well maybe just 4 Toad Snake...and River Rock Run...and Long Wood Drive...and!!)

Recommended Route:
When you get to 'The Other Side'...resist the urge to hammer over the 1920's bridge and head North on 'Fin'. You'll need to stay left as you enter 'Cowboy Country' and then hook up with 'Sugar Buzz' for a sweet ride into the 'Back 40'. Take your pick coming back of either 'Ox-E-Jenn' or 'Gunn-Rita'....you'll just have to come back again to ride whichever one you missed.

Summary:
walked this trail once and couldn't handle it, fell in the river three times, got stuck in one section called freaky sticks, fell about eight feet at suicide drop into some bushes and got scratched up, overall i would say any bikers stay on your bike and away from the river, but do not try to navigate this trail walking.
