Summary:
this place was pretty cool. Free, and not very busy.....hit it before noon and you are likely the only person there. As previously stated, it is very slow riding and not very good flow. The ground was pretty soft too on the west side of the park......but there was a nice little rocky section way at the back (NE side). The thing that makes this park is the obstacles. Definite north-shore style stuff, that is very well built and wide enough for the intermediate rider to feel ballsy. There are some tough ones though, so keep that in mind....I was having alot of success and tried a section that was about 8' up in a pile of rocks......bailed and almost broke my ankle.....just got lucky and landed in a sweet spot...Anyways, if you are within 45 minutes of this place, go check it out.....not sure if it's worth the drive, say from Toronto though.....

Summary:
For people who like light freeriding and aggressive XC, the Bruce Peninsula Mountain Biking Adventure Park is paradise!

The trails: The land is fairly flat, so most of the challenge comes from the technical terrain. There are several loops ranging from 1-3km each, so there is easily more than a dozen km altogether. But because of the technical difficulty, you will probably find that you won't be able to cover all the trails in a single session.

Technical difficulty: The trails are very technical, with many rocks and roots, and as a result it is a very slow but challenging ride. At not point can you expect to ride over 20kmh, I averaged well under 10kmh. I noticed several novices who were forced to walk sections because of the technical difficulty of the trail, so it is not really suitable for pure beginners. But experienced riders will just love the technical challenge and difficult terrain, especially the "expert" trails. Riding this trail with a rigid would be immensely difficult, so having a good front suspension would be an absolute minumum. This is one trail where you'd be well served with a dual suspension bike, although it's certainly rideable with a good hardtail.

The stunts: This is the best part! Alongside the trails, throughout the park, are well placed and superbly designed northshore-styled light freeriding stunts. Most of these are rated according to difficulty, and given appropriate names like "Mount Everest", "Teeter Totter of Shame", "Don't Try This at Home", "The Serpent", and "Cannonball Run." Several of these are in the parking lot, including teeter-totters ("Peewee" and "Free Fall"), a northshore ride ("Junkyard Dog"), some jumps ("Bush Pig" and "Ride the Sign"), a rock garden, and a skinny ("Mr Completely"). These features are easily the highlights of the trail, and there are probably at least 20 of them scattered throughout the park. They are optional and placed slightly off the main trail, so less experienced riders can just stick to the main trail and avoid them. This makes it possible to a group ride with riders of different abilities. Some are fairly easy (even my 8 year old could do "Boardwalk"), but others are insane. Each stunt has a "filter", ie harder stunts are deliberately difficult to access, so if you can't get onto it, it's too hard for you!

Summary:
Although the trail was still under development when I last rode it in late August 2004, it is developing nicely and is a great additon to the Bruce Peninsula riding scene. The stunts are located on small off loops usually within view of the main loop which makes it fun for groups of varying skill levels who want to ride together.

Recommended Route:
All the loops are fun so try them all.

Pine Woods Hepworth, a fun XC trail. Brant Tract -Paisley. Various Owen Sound trails.

Summary:
I managed to ride almost everything here, although not necessarily on the first attempt. The only thing I didn't try was that narrow teeter-totter at the end of the log. If it were wider I might consider it.

There are bypasses around all of the obstacles, so you can skip them if you're chicken.

Tip - if you're going to try the double-teeter-totter it's all about momentum.

There were 8 of us in the group, ranging from novice to advanced. We all had a blast. Now that's an accomplishment!
Great trail guys!

Recommended Route:
There are labelled loops. I enjoyed all of them. The #2 loop was lots of work. The novices didn't enjoy it quite so much.
