Cross Country Rider Summary: The Holland River Trail is Aurora's portion of the Nokiidaa Trail System, which is hoped to extend along the Holland River through the Towns of Aurora, Newmarket, and East Gwillimbury. Aurora's portion currently extends from just south of Vandorf Road, west of Bayview Avenue, (specifically Crossing Bridge Place) northerly to Wellington St. At Wellington, off-roaders can cross and find a dirt track that angles NW'ly, whereas families can follow a paved bicycle path on the south boulevard of Wellington west to Mary Street/John West Way. Cross at the lights and rejoin the developed trail at the senior's centre. You can also park and access the trail at the Municipal Offices, adjacent to the north.
Further to the north, the trail passes through the Town's recreation lands (baseball diamonds) and hence to St. John's Sideroad at Industrial Parkway.
Currently (2007) there is a discontinuity in the Nokiidaa Trail because a golf club the necessary land, but negotiations continue to divert the trail westerly along St. John's and northerly across Hadley Grange senior's residence to join existing trails along Tannery Creek in the Town of Newmarket. The intention is to extend these trails to connect with the Tom Taylor Trail at Mulock Drive. Other recommended trails in the same area: Case Woodlot Trail on MTBR
