Rockcliffe Trail
5 reviews
 4.4 of 5

Lots of trails in a relatively small area enclosed by highway 6 to the west, highway 5 to the north, and (with a efw exceptions) the train tracks to the south and east). A lot of great stuff is south of the train tracks, so don't miss it.

Summary:
A Blast - the 1st time I rode here I thought I would get lost and never get out - so many trails to follow - great variety to chose from - climbs are challenging - for those skilled enough, logs, and home made bridges

I came prepared for my second trip - bought a map - recommend you do too :-)

so far I have come across 3 trails which are colour marked - Yellow, Green, are found north of the tracks and Red is south of the tracks - Yellow requires some skill, step hills and logs, Green offers the same with fewer obstacles - I have not attached Red yet but will post as my adventures continue.

Ran into a few guys (1st timers from Milton way) who were lost, tired and impressed, "a hell of a workout - hope we find our way out before dark :-)"

Summary:

I ride this trail on the way home from work every couple days or so. People have taken the time to build single track bidges over most creeks and larger mud pits. If you enter from the Rockcliffe end stop and thank the couple in the house to the east. This gentlmen onced owned this property and is responsible for building the network of trails, rest areas, and crossing s with his own money over the years. I have ridden this trail in all types of weather and it is a blast. lots of single track and lots of hiker on the weekends. Try it early in the morning for the best time. Once you have rode in one direction try it the other way the hills seem to come out of no where since you have been riding down hill most of the way. The Farm east of the rockcliff enterance did let us ride across in property but some wise biker cut a trail across his field with a mower and damaged his crop of wild flowers ( which is his business ) and did over $5,000.00 damage so he is not to happy with us ridng there any more. So ride here with your friends but respect the land.

Recommended Route:
Head west along the upper trail to Hwy 6 then head back crossing below the tracks over to Waterdown road by the falls, From the falls head back and down to hidden valley park

Other recommended trails in the same area:
Also ride the Bruce Trail east of the falls towards Burlington ( 1st road south of the falls over the crest of the hill down about 300 ft oon the south side) lots of rocks, mud, and a good ride

Summary:
As I've already mentioned, I've only ridden here once, and on snow, but I had wicked fun. There are many trails spanning an area of the Niagara Escarpment that is littered with lots of tiny creeks, hence lots of ups and downs. There are some dropoffs, steep slopes, and a few not-so-challenging "low fat bridges". Whe I look back to my ride there, though, I find I can't wait until the snow melts so I can go there again. One of the best parts of this place is that there is no horseback riding allowed, yet mountain biking is totally allowed.

Recommended Route:
Check out the stuff south of the train tracks along the Bruce Trail. The trails under the powerlines are fun too.
