Pakkotinna Recreation Trail
2 reviews
 5 of 5

"Pakkotinna" means "high, hilly ground". It's a loop trail that branches off to ATV and snowmobile trails. The trail gets narrower as you gain elevation. Follow the main trail until the fork, then keep left. The trail winds up to a lookout (nice view) and continues along the ridge and then drops DOWN (Big Ring!) and re-connects to the fork. It's about 5 or 6 km round-trip (approx. 45 min. ride). The trail is not very well maintained so if you're unsure - bring a compass because it's a bushwhacker.

Ridden Trail:
Once a week

Summary:
This is probably the only decent trail in the area. Anyone in the surrounding area shoud give this trail some consideration. This place has tons of potential for a better trail system through it if a few riders got together. Lots of rocks and roots for the technically inclined, and after climbing, a wicked downhill for the speed freaks. This trail is only about 5-6km in length, I usually ride the loop one way, meet up with the fork again and then book it in the opposite direction.

Recommended Route:
From the parking lot follow doubletrack trail until you reach a fork in the road. Left side is a long steady uphill climb with a fast descent, Right side is a brutal uphill climb but a long technical descent. Either way you are rewarded with an outstanding view of the bonnechere vally. (marked lookout trail)

This trail is not a perfect 5 out of five due to its short length, but 4 1/2 is what it gets from me.

Summary:
Lots of rocks, and a very very fast down hill about 2km after the look out to the highway. WICKED TRAIL!!!!

Recommended Route:
At the trail head follow the road, then you will make a few climbs and there will be a fork, take the left route it is amazing. Follow that untill you reach another fork, on the right will be a giant hill walk you bike to the top, and keep following the path. Once you get to the look out keep on the snowmobile trail untill you reach the highway, turn right on to the highway. Then you have about a kilometer bike back to the trail head.

Calabogie, trails around the GL
