Macaulay Mountain

Fantastic twisty turny trails all packed into one small conservation area. maintained by local club who love sharp turns, steep climbs, gnarly descents, obstacles and lots and lots of different ways to ride in a tiny area. Trails from easy to insane.

Summary:
Ok first off, there's no jumps, second, you have to climb, and third, well, the downhills leave something to be desired for this cat. Anyway, if you love xc, you will love macauley. If you're like me and climb is a swearword, you'll hate it. With some work, it could be great, but the Bloomfield bike shop seem kind of Anti-freerider, soo...

Recommended Route:
The "steep downhill has potential, but it's too short. Also, there could be a great, fairly long, and even raceable dh trail, but the xc weenies won't want it.

Other recommended trails in the same area:
A group of local freeriders are working on some shore stuff and dirt jumps in Milford.

Summary:
Oh this trail makes me happy! There are so many secret little entrances and exits and sweet little trails. You think you know them all, you think you've got a great route and then BAM there's a trail I haven't ridden before in that direction! So challengin, so FUN, so unpretentious. No monorails, no teetertotters just good ol' plain twists and turns and switchbacks and trees and YEEHAW!I love it because I never get too far away from the start point and if I ever get lost I just ride downhill to the parking lot.

Recommended Route:
A NEW ROUTE for me. Enter the trail on the slab bridge (your first right after the two ski hills!) into the woods and then take your first LEFT over the bridge and then follow that trail. It leads you right over to the bunny snake trail. Then CLIMB. I mean basically you start at the bottom so no matter what you do you have to climb to start. Great warm up. Then boot it across the edge! Don't miss the groovy tuesday!

Other recommended trails in the same area:
Try some REALLY UNBELIEVABLY easy trials at the Massassauga Conservation Area (maybe 5k of trails). There are tons of trails on PRIVATE PROPERTY in Prince Edward County. Check out the five club rides at the Bloomfield Bicycle Company to see some of those!

Summary:
This place is great!! Good for groups of varying abilities. Some roots and little rocky sections but otherwise very smooth. Very hilly and can be deadly after a rain but fun nonetheless. There are two beginner trails that are a blast. 1. Bunny Hill with Snakes is a twisty turny singletrack that meanders around the base of the hill. Leads to an easy way up, relatively speaking that is. 2. Strawberry Fields can be found by taking a left pretty much anywhere once you get to the top of the hill and are riding along the Edge. For the record The Edge is a wicked cool single track that winds along the top oh the hill. It has quick ups and downs and is best ridden fast but watch out for the steep drop-off to the right. Best way down- well there all good even Easy-Up, but my favorite is the trail aptly named "STEEP HILL"

Summary:
The trails are mainly singletrack and when I was there there was a bit of mud but not too much. Me and the guy I was riding with met one of the guys that helped make the trails and he took me on a tour. I also heard that there is another 50 km of trails at the top that aren't marked on the map (which is not that helpful I might add). Anyways, if you are in the are make sure you hit these trails they are great!! lots of up and down technical stuff! Bring lots of water! the up hill and turns make you thirsty, fast!

Recommended Route:
All of them are great! just make sure you hit the long chute (its number 5 or 6) and go really fast but watch for the rock half way down, its on the left.

Other recommended trails in the same area:
I haven't ridden many in the area, but I heard that collins bay (kingston) was good.

Summary:
I've been looking for some good trails in the area for a while (moved here a year ago) and found that this area is a hell of a lot of fun (lots of mud and water when we went). If you want to kill a day riding this a great place to hit... one word of warning though is watch the bridges when they are wet... tre slippery. Myself and one other in the group found this out the hard way.
And for the ones that may be a little skeptical of how fun this place is, the group I road with consisted of friends from Vancouver and Calgary and they had a blast....

Recommended Route:
All of them.
And if you're ever in the Hamilton area hit Waterdown... it rocks!

Other recommended trails in the same area:
Still looking. Send suggestions.... other than the Fort Henry trail.
