Gilkinson Flats and Tutela Hieghts and Cockshut Trails
6 reviews
 4.17 of 5

At Lions Park there are number of access points too Gilkinson flats which is a multi-use trail, this leads down river to the lower Tutela Heights trail which is nice single track with log crossings, roots and ups and downs. Staying on the lower trail will take you to the Cockshut bridge area with some nice climbs, logs and trials area and then a nice long fast desent then to the bridge for a nice steep climb to the upper trail that it twisty and fast with some views of the Grand River Valley. Follow the top trail until you see guard rails and follow them until the trail drops into the forest behind the Bell Homestead for some nice singletrack, logs, bridges, etc. There is a nice loop here of about 10-15 Km with some other trails for side loops

Summary:
This trail is sweet. Almost all singletrack, smooth rolling sections good for picking up lots of speed, and a load of real neat technical sections. Freakin' crazy little DH/FR area a little ways back that just rocks, U guys got some balls! I did a 13 km ride in there today and didn't even ride all the trail. I'll be going back sometime soon...

Recommended Route:
Start on the trail in the Lion's Park and just keep going untill you come to the singletrack and get lost for a while.

Summary:
It's basically a single track trial with lots of climbs, logs and a descent table top off of the main trail. few fast parts and fairly technical riding. Not maintained very well best riden in june before the weeds get out of hand. If it's a wet day don't bother riding the lower half. it is possible to ride the complete loop of 7 km without dismounting your bike. the cliffs are also fun and challanging to ride. but aren't really worn down or anything. the trail is worth a ride if you live in the area.

Recommended Route:
Just go to the bell homestead and you can see it behind the parking lot.

Summary:
This is was my home trail, i would ride it 3-4 times a week in the summer when i didn't have school. It is an exellent trail, with many obsticales and climbs. There is exellent down hill sections and if you are adventurous you can make the ride as long as you want, picking and choosing between the top and bottom trails.

Recommended Route:
get on at lions park/flats and ride till you get to the dirt take the low trail till it splits.Take the climb and go up to the top ... ride till you get to a large downhill area go down and ride back on the lower trail.
