Fireman's Park

resonably fun way: stay in left hand side of parking lot, past gate, stay to right when round forks, wath for small path on right, follow this to the right, when you come to open field, look for path on left (both work, 2nd one is better) behing building is too far, go down hill (big jumps if into that) at bottom, hang a left, goes behind dump (can be smelly somedays, and watch the water), after passing around large puddles (you'll see what i mean) stay to the left for a more manageable uphill, eventually come to field, cut across back until road, (don't go beside the dump) Turn right on road (straight has some fun stuff) catch bruce trail a little ways down hill on right, ride into the bottom part of park. Some technical spots and some really fast spots make for decent ride, not too hard, good for a short outting, play around in the bottom part of the park, there are a few trails around other than the bruce.

Summary:
Well, i live about 8km from the park, so this is where i ride most often. It is fun, and i am pretty lucky to have trails within riding distance from my place. There is some singletrack, lots of doubletrack, some hills, some rocks, some roots, some sand. Overall, it is pretty beginner friendly. Some areas are very rutted and muddy due to dirtbikes and ATVs. Some sections are pretty mediocre, but i can make a 25-35km ride out of my front door, and allong the way there are some really fun and challenging sections.

Recommended Route:
I usually start at mountain road, just past the overpass. Climb a short steep hill, and continue through the top of the park. Go down between a fence and a tree, and you hit some singletrack, then go down a rocky hill. At the bottom, turn left down the doubletrack until you hit the road across from the ponds. Turn right, and head down the escarpment on the road, just a few metres down the hill (careful not to pass it) pick up the bruce trail. This section is pretty challenging. It has very tight singletrack, a good array of rocks and roots, as well as some very steep setions. Continue until you reach the lake of firemans park. From there, hike your bike up the stairs, continue, and turn right on the road. while going downhill, pick up the trail again on the left. Continue untill you reach st. paul street. Go down the hill and turn right down a gravel road. pick up the bruce trail again on your left. Hike up the escarpment, and keep riding the bruce. Then, pick up the upper canada heritage trail. this section is nice doubletrack, and fast, since it is slightly downhill. At the end of that section, take the dirt road. take the road, up to queenston heights, continue

Other recommended trails in the same area:
12 mile creek in st. catharines. best local riding! Some new great singletrack that is tight and challenging.

Summary:
Very good trails, can't get lost. It's a good place to go for a ride, and spend the day, because of the beautiful park and pond nearby. There's alot of branch-off trails as well, which include slow-curving ones, to massive jump... kind of intimidating I'd say though. But if you know the area it helps out alot, I would really suggest this place for a nice day.

Recommended Route:
Bruce Trail, which is more of a medium difficulty trail. There's alot of slopes and some sand too, but it's really a great one to go on more then once!

Other recommended trails in the same area:
Queestion Heights, and behind Eagle Valley Golf course.
