Canadore College and Nipissing University trails
2 reviews
 4.5 of 5

There are 12km of hard to extreme trails here. There are alot of rocks and roots on most of the trails. Some parts of the trails can get very muddy. Check out Duchesnay Falls and Lake Nipissing Lookout. Oh yeh, watch out for Riger Mortis Hill.

Summary:
I rode this trail when I went to Canadore, and yep it is pretty damned technical in spots. The backside of the hill is very hard to go down (might be easier with suspension though)because of constant rock ledge drops into tricky rock section after rock section, you really have to be on your toes for this one and pick your lines carefully or it's faceplant time. It's a trail I would only recomend for the advanced rider with some adequate trials type skills. The only thing that suck about this trail is that once you go down you have to hike it back up (unless your Hans Rey).
Good trails though but not very long.

Recommended Route:
Start at college lake and go up

Summary:
These trails can be quite technical in some places. There are lots of short steep climbs which are full of rocks and roots. Of course, this also means that there are many great, rocky downhills on which you can practice the many skills of mountain biking. These trails (esp. the long loop) are not for beginners, I've seen some pretty bad tumbles resulting in some injuries. Overall great fun!!!!!

Recommended Route:
I usually mix and match when I'm riding these trails, any route you choose will be challenging and fun. If you have some time do the big loop which takes you to the falls. It's a little more fun to ride down rigor mortis than to walk up it so this is what I usually do. If you have less time, any of the small loops are fun.

Other recommended trails in the same area:
North Bay (about 3 hrs north of Toronto) is a great place to ride. There are many free trails everywhere, ranging from very hard to very easy. This is an untapped mountain bike area. I've ridden in many places (North Carolina, Hardwood etc...) and our trails rival any of these palces. Two local ski hills are developping extensive trail networks also.
