On November 5, 2004, The Honourable David Ramsay, Ontario Minister of Natural Resources, announced the McGuinty Government is creating more open space and parkland in Oakville and Burlington by protecting 1,286 acres of provincially owned lands.
The province is protecting two-thirds, or 750 acres, of the government-owned lands known as the Oakville Land Assembly (OLA), bounded by Dundas Street West, Highway 407, Bronte Road and Sixteen Mile Creek valley. This will create natural corridors and linkages that will further protect wildlife habitat and significant vegetation.
In addition to the lands from the OLA, the province is protecting a further 368 acres of provincially owned valley lands and environmentally significant lands along the Sixteen Mile Creek system, primarily north of Highway 407. These lands are part of the Sixteen Mile Creek Life Science Area of Natural and Scientific Interest (ANSI). Recommended Route: Join an ATV/ORV club & ride your ATVs on designated trails only. Don't ride your ATVs in designated environmentally sensitive areas & protected greenspace parkland, constantly criss-crossing the river & damaging the environment, especially in the Spring. Other recommended trails in the same area: I repeat, join an ATV/ORV club & ride your ATVs on designated trails only! The authorities are involved & charges are being laid! Thank you for your cooperation & support.

Cross Country Rider Summary: I actually built this trail years ago with a 82 Toyota pick-up with a locked solid front end.
I had a cabin in the Ukranian camp there, and every night we would drink beer and work are way further and further into 16 mile creeek. We got access throught the camp, via a cow slide built back in the early 40's.
There are lots of offshoots, but you have to cross alot of water, if its raining forget it, your ATV will end up in lake Ontario.
Next time you are down that way, search around a bit more. Recommended Route: Take Hiway 5 (Dundas) to east of the 16 mile creek bridge, there is an empty lot on your right side, going west, there is a big steel iron gate, park before it.
Boot down to the very far right of the property and you will find a trail going down to the creek, the property is now owned by Mattamy Homes and cant be developed until 06, I have never had any problem getting in through there.

Weekend Warrior Summary: This trail system is a waste of time. Unless you live right there, don't waste the time to get there. Spend a few more minutes and go to Kelso or Hilton Falls. Many ATV riders, trails are only a short ride. When the creek water level is high it is difficult to cross. Recommended Route: Take Neyagagwa north past the 407, right to the end. Park there, and ride down past the bridge.Trails go off in either direction, but no trail seems to go more than a few kilometers. Other recommended trails in the same area: as I said go to Milton, and ride either Hilton Falls or Kelso. Pay one price and use both trail systems. It is a whole day of great riding.

, from Oakville Summary: Have ridden the trail a couple of times now and enjoy it. Typically I have been taking the trail across the bridge to the left. It's an ATV trail so keep an eye out for dirt bikes, etc. Not too technically challenging but a fun ride if you want to get out for a decent ride close to home. There are a number of off-shoots which I haven't taken the time to map out yet. Recommended Route: same as above Other recommended trails in the same area: Lions Gate Park
