Old Railway Bike Trail

This is an abandoned rail line that runs from the Mew Lake campground to just east of the Rock Lake campground. It is fairly flat. There are lots of opportunities for wildlife viewing. Also interpretive locations explaining the railway''s history & it''s impact on Algonquin Park. Wide, smooth, well maintained and good for families.

Trail Directions	From the West: Take Hwy. #60 from Huntsville to the Mew lake campground. Follow the signs thru the campground to the parking area. The large flat area was once used as a landing strip. From the East: Take Hwy. #60 from Whitney to the Rock Lake campground road. Follow the road thru the campground until you get to the parking area between the lake & the trailhead for the Booth's Rock walking trail.

Summary:
I rode the trail last Thanksgiving weekend. Saw a couple of families riding & some well equipped MTBers riding the trail. Fairly easy to ride as the surface is hard & the terrain flat. I didn't see any moose, but saw some cow & calf tracks. Did see some ducks in a creek & a great blue heron beside the trail @ the bridge @ the south end of Whitefish Lake.
