Weekend Warrior Summary: My wife and I rode this trail a few weeks ago. All in all in was a fun trail to ride. We mostly enjoyed the Big Meanie and Stinky trails just for their more technical nature. We both found some of the intermediate trails to be a little boring and convoluted. However, it is quite accommodating for all skill levels. Recommended Route: It was a long way from Guelph.....

Cross Country Rider Summary: Okay, I have been riding this trail system since its beginning 10 years ago. Most of these reviews are old and likely accurate at the time of writing BUT The Shoe has morphed through several levels as time and thousands of wheels, rolled by. What used to be soft narrow near granny sections are now wide, well packed mid gear flow. We have seen stunts come and go as the forest and the region have done their thing. A running club has recently adopted our trails and with some authoritative attitude. We have had it well signed and marked on more than one occasion only to have the signs removed for whatever reason, I don't know.
What we are left with is a proven sustainable 20 kms of dedicated single track designed and built by mountain bikers for bikes. Yeah its dumbed down, nowhere near as technical as it used to be but the twisty layout and tight rooted forest still makes for a lot of fun and you will at times be challenged. Please stay out when its wet and don't take or make short cuts.
Have fun, respect and fingers crossed, we'll have the privilege for another ten years...
Mr R

Weekend Warrior Summary: -GREAT multi skill level trails.
-You can start off at a slow pace on the main trails (but watch out for people watching their dog :P). Then you can work your way up to the more advanced trails. You can find many great obstacles in the trails, including: sharp turns, small bridges, teeter totters, tree stumps, tree branches to avoid, climbs, minor drops, and a few jumps.
-The layout is rather confusing the first few trips. But once you learn to identify your location, this is a remarkably fun trail to venture through.
-I would recommend that you have a chain guard on your bike for any unavoidable trees you might come across. and a full water bottle isn't a bad idea, should you get lost.
Recommended Route: Best to start at the main entrance on Ravenshoe. (there is another entrance on McCowan)
Check out the map in the parking lot before you jump into it! Take it slow on the main (wider) trails, get to know a few intersections before jumping into it. (My first experience was about an hour longer than I intended it to be, lol) Other recommended trails in the same area: Not sure of the name... Kellets trail? ~ 3/5* trail, but still fun :)
