Ridden Trail: Once a month

, from Kitchener Summary: I've been riding Mansfield on dirt bikes or bicycles for about 20 years. It's one of the best intermediate tracks in Ontario. There's not much in Mansfield that is of great technical difficulty: miles of twisty, up and down, sandy loam trails with the odd tree root and small log to hop. But... quicken the pace and the trails are more of a challenge. And once you gain some altitude, the long down hills at speed keep a big grin on your face. This is an ideal place to ride for the new mtn biker, an intermediate, or old folks like me who just wanna have fun, and you can ride for hours before the old pumper gives up. Keep Kolapore and the other Ontario stuff with the jagged rocks and severe dropoffs. I need my arms and legs to be bikin' another 30 years. Though I've ridden Slick Rock in Moab, Utah, and a bunch of places in the U.S. southwest, all the while I was dreamin' of Mansfield. Theres no place like home, there's no place like home. P>S> this is a shared forest. Be considerate of the hikers, the horseback riders, the motorcyclists who built the trails and the europeans who visit in the fall to harvest mushrooms. Recommended Route: North on Airport Road, about 10 km past #89. The key is to pass Mansfield SkiHill (on the left) and go to the top of the visible escarpment and turn right into the free public parking and entrance. Since the forest is Crown Land and the trails were built mainly by Halton Off-Road Riders (HORRA) for two motorcycle enduros, I can't see paying Mansfield Outdoor Centre for access to a forest they don't own and to trails they didn't make: this is another Harris Gov't tax grab. Other recommended trails in the same area: The Ganaraska forest in Pickering is very much like Mansfield: a mix of pine and hardwood forest.

, from alliston Summary: once in the parking lot go past the gate on the right, once you have gone past the gate make a quick right up a small hill and then a left on to the single track. The single track is endless in dufferin forest, you may want to take a compass if you don't know your way in the bush. Recommended Route: airport road head north of mansfield on the right side of the road just past mansfield outdoor center. Other recommended trails in the same area: Mansfield outdoor center, Kolopore, Three stages

, from Schomberg, ON Summary: Been going here since I started biking. My favorite place to ride. The forest is huge and it is a little hard to find the good trails, but once you've found them you can spend a good chunk of time riding them. Alot of the turns have burms and make for fast riding. Good amount of objects to clear and I've lately seen a few manmade obsticles built. Definately a great place to go for a fun fast epic ride. Oh yeah don't bitch at the motorbikers cause they built the trails and keep them full of burms. A good place for anyone to ride, but you might not want to venture too far in if you aren't the best with keeping track of directions in the forest. Recommended Route: To find the trails: There have been some trails cleared now that start even closer to the parking lot. If you head through the right gates and hit the first fireroad on your left you will see the singletrack starting on the left as you climb the first hill. Other recommended trails in the same area: mono centre

, from Alliston Summary: None of these trails have official names, so explaining routes is impossible unless you know all the little spots to leave one singletrack, hop a short section of fire road and rail more sweet singletrack. The fact that it's un-mapped and named gives it great charm. A small group of locals could ride seven consecutive days for two plus hours each ride on different trails. The hardest part is keeping the lesser known trails open from overgrowth. Recommended Route: Planned routes are only for us who know all the unnamed trails. Other recommended trails in the same area: Hockley Valley, Primrose, Kilgorie,
