Musquodoboit Rail Trail

Average Rating:    (3 of 5)

No. of Reviews: 2

A great intermediate mountain bike trail. An old railway line, built in 1916 and torn up around 1981. Starts in Gibraltar (middle of nowhere) and continues on to Musquodoboit Harbour. About 15 km one way, with a couple of rest stations along the route. Cool old concrete railway bridges dating from the 1920''s and one steel bridge, that you''ll cross over. Other great trails leading off on the side opposite to the river.(these are advanced trails that are VERY difficult and somewhat dangerous....use caution....Great vistas and views from cliffs. Watch out for the gazillion snakes that seem to like this trail too in the mid summer. Biked it on May 10th, 2006, on my old trusty Minelli, in some light drizzle with Shelly!! Great little workout after 30km. John Tillmann

Some of the side trails are very technical.

Recommended Route:

straight ahead and then back...30 km, so you'll need good cardio.

A few trails off from the main one, up the side of the mountain......but these are very challenging!!!
