Ridden Trail: Once a week

Cross Country Rider Summary: The 'unmarked' race loop found within the hiking trails at grand beach is absolutely beautiful. Only about 20% of the 12km single track run is shared with the hiking/xcskiing trails. I worked as a conservation officer in the area in the summer of 2009 and biked this trail twice a day and NEVER got tired of it. GREAT workout. Some nice long fast downhills, with a couple nice jumps and even a ladder. If you stay on the single track route you will not have to deal with sand the entire ride. Recommended Route: Park in the hiking/xcskiing trails parking lot and head into the only 'enter' trail. follow any pink or yellow ribbons tied to tree branches, and not the mapped out hiking trails. Stick on the main hiking route until the second warm up shack, this is where you'll notice both a pink and yellow ribbon on your right. take a right down a looooong fast downhill straight into beautiful single track trails... and don't look back. keep your eye out for the ribbons. if they're on the right side of a trail when you come out, turn right, and vice a versa. Other recommended trails in the same area: the ancient beach trail is a hiking trail near the camp ground at grand beach. it is a narrow single-track ish trail with lots of rocks to jump over. kind of technical with a challenging climb, and lots of fun.

Weekend Warrior Summary: Not a lot of fun. Wide xcountry skis freestyle trails with too much sand. Cannot achieve any speed really on any part of the trail. No single track, no technical challenge even for intermediate level riders. Many intersecting trails that are all alike. Not recommended.Boring.

, from Winnipeg, MB, CA Summary: Dissapointing. Lots of trails through some nice terrain, but way too much sand. Coming off downhills and into sandy turns loses all your speed in a hurry. Some good climbs. Some very scenic views at the top of some hills looking over the lake. Watch for hikers. Recommended Route: Any of the longer trails.
