Cross Country Rider Summary: Super mix of various x-country mtb conditions. Flowing sections, tight turns, ups and downs and decent flats for good cardio riding. Increasing your speed will keep you on your toes...dodging trees and staying on the trail. Trail remains in remarkably good condition during rainy periods. Watch out for the roots though. Best trail by far near Winnipeg. Stay on the outer loop...about 6km. Many alternative trails inside main loop worth a look. Highly recommended outing near the city. Recommended Route: Keep right from main entrance of Bird's Hill Park. Signage is clear. Parking lot at trail head.

Cross Country Rider Summary: The Burr Oak Trail at Birds Hill Park is one of the most challenging trails in the provence. The trail being so close to the city of Winnipeg has made it a favorite for all kinds of riders and local race nights. This trail offers extreamly challenging switch backs with lots of trees to dodge, it also has flat out high speed areas. Some kind of warning device is needed when riding this trail to warn other riders of your approach and to give the local deer a chance to get out of the way.

Cross Country Rider Summary: The Burr-Oak is a good trail to go hit when you're short on time, and need good kicks quick. The trail has some areas that you can let loose and giv'r, and others where you better watch your bars goin through the trees. The trail isn't super technical, but it'll keep you on your toes in some areas. There are lots of trails that branch off of the main trail, so go explore and have fun. Recommended Route: From Hwy 59 gate, go on south drive. Burr oak picnic area is just on your right. Go to parking area, and trail begins just behind the covered eating area. You'll pop out once almost where you started but it darts back into the trees quickly for another short loop, than you'll finish up on the opposite side of the parking lot from where you began. You can take the trail the opposite way too, it's good both ways. You'll notice that either way you go, it's quick on the first half and a bit slower on the second, because the trail dips down in the middle, so you always have to finish on a slight uphill. Other recommended trails in the same area: Bluestem, Gravel pits across from spring hill ski area
