Lake William Trail
2 reviews
 5 of 5

This is some of the sweetest singletrack ever. There are lots of rolling hills through thick trees. There is also some creek crossings and another trail that goes to a lookout tower. You can also go exploring along fencelines and follow cow trails to a huge lake that no one ever goes to.

Trail Directions
It's located around Lake William in Turtle Mountain Provincial Park 15 miles southeast of Boissevain. The roads are all gravel but don't worry it's easy to find. Once you get to the lake you can start from anywhere, the trail goes right around the lake.

Summary:
I've camped at William Lake many times in the past, but last weekend was the first time I brought my mountain bike. What a nice trail, well maintained, the grass is kept short and fallen trees are removed on a regular basis. There are trails that go around the whole lake with a main trail that goes around the backside of the lake with options to go to the summit of a tall hill. All of the trail is thru a hardwood forest, I wouldn't be surprised to meet a moose on any part of it. The trail is composed of black dirt and grass that can be slippery when wet, with numerous roots and rocks. It's hilly enough to raise your heart rate, but someone in average shape will have no trouble riding it. The lake is visible from most of the trail and there are numerous small bridges to cross. An excellent trail since it makes a complete circuit around the lake, no heading down the trail and back again over the same terrain you just road. I can't wait to ride it again! Mark

Recommended Route:
Going either direction works fine :-).
