Bird's Hill Gravel Pits
2 reviews
 4.5 of 5

Not the best place to ride, as most of it's packed gravel but there is a very interesting trail that runs along the hill(?) side full of crevasses and tree roots, fairly flat but still challenging to cut a good line and technical tight, rough corners uphill. Coming down some of the rock faces has proven to be a good challenge, warning, pick your line carefully! It's nearly impossible to avoid various rocks/trees when sharp, deep crevasses make it impossible to turn without flipping/ sliding. An nearly invisible 10ft. drop wrecks havoc on many ill-equipped bikes. Do not try it unless you have a Monster T fork or something equipped for North Shore stuff. Quite scenic, WATCH OUT FOR DIRTBIKERS! They're not too common but keep the eye+ear out. Take the uphill trail to the right immediately after park gates, work your way around.

Summary:
It's always constantly changing, sometimes for the better and sometimes for the worse. You can hit 60+ km going down the hill but don't fall into the water! Watch for sharp rocks to bend a rim or pop a tire. And watch for trenches because youll get stuck and it'll throw you clear off your bike.

Recommended Route:
Start from the top on the outside and find a nice trail from here...

Other recommended trails in the same area:
There are a lot of gravel pits in the area and some fast trails on spring hill. Its a really large hill with some nice but rough trails.
