The Lizard is old reclaimed forest service road. Most of it is still passable to 4WD vehicles although they are prohibited.

I only added this trail since I found it on the net and decided to try it. The net description for this trail is "a challenging mountain bike trail" that "takes 2 1/2 hours to complete." I was hopeful to find some technically challenging areas - unfortunately that didn't transpire. What I found was a rehabilitated forest service road. In terms of technical challenge it rates novice, in terms of physical challenge it rates advanced. A series of switchbacks start the route, a climb of about 500 ft. At the top of the switchbacks you hook into the start of the 4WD road. A long grueling ride ensues, a total rise of about 2000 ft over the next 5 km is encountered. I'm old (36) but still managed to crank it 98% of the way. After the summit signs are posted about "dangerous steep hills", they should be read as scream time. The loop is posted to take 2.5 hours, I can crank it on my steel hardtail in 1.25 hours. Good workout - no technical.
