Trail Directions
Come to Nelson, go to the Sacred Ride store and ask there. The staff there is awesome and are pretty open about their knowledge of the trails around here. Not like North Van where some of those girls like to keep their little secrets, and still brag about the good riding BUT its only for locals.Lame.If you're into really awesome dh trails that are open to anyone who can handle them, in a small town area, come to Nelson. If you're into really awesome dh trails that you won't be able to find or get directions for, in a big city where the traffic sucks on the road and on the trails, then go to Vancouver. and if you are one of these Van trail snobs, PLEASE don't come to Nelson, because you are right, your trails are the best, so just stay there.

Summary:
Hitman is now longer, and areas affected by logging have been cleaned up. New section (Upper Hitman) accessed by different drainage than the original trail (Lower Hitman). Upper Hitman starts at elevation 6000 feet, descends down to Lower Hitman elevation approx. 3500 feet. Turn this ride into a full day by continuing past the Upper Hitman trailhead along a ridgeline to 7000 feet. Upper Hitman has various components to it, from subalpine cross-country to steep singletrack. A few small jumps.

Recommended Route:
Ask for directions at a local bike shop.

Other recommended trails in the same area:
Newt sac, Snakes and Ladders, Ledges, Nooner, Slabalanche, Upper Sitkum, Lower Sitkum (Downhill Jam).

Summary:
good trail. Fun and pretty long but I think the previous reviews say 3000-4000 ft of vert??? I looked at my topo map and I would say more like 2000 ft of vert at the most. Still a sweet ride, but not to hard if looking for a huge challenge.

Recommended Route:
ask at Sacred ride in Nelson

Other recommended trails in the same area:
paperbag, bedframe, sitkum

Summary:
This trail is good for all skill levels, (except maybe the few bigger stunts). HUGE vertical descent, and lots of fun single track variation. Mostly downhill with some cool rock moves. Takes you through very cool old growth and second growth cedar forest. Definately worth checking out.

Recommended Route:
see above

Other recommended trails in the same area:
placenta descenta, the vein, the paperbag; all trails with LOTS of vert
