This is a really tough climb, but the downhill is a white knuckle tighten your scphinter experience. This is a definite must if you are in Salmon Arm or vacationing at the Shushwap. I would recommend only experienced bikers do this one.
Travel east on Highway 1 towards Sicamous. 10 kms outside of Salmon Arm on the left side is a large Salmon Arm sign. Go about 1/2 a click more and on the right side is a logging office. Go to the second parking lot (east). There is a grass road going up. Follow this for about a 1/2 km, then merge left to a single track. Follow this up for about 2 km and you will emerge onto a logging road. Follow this road up about 3 km until you see a partially covered grass road on the right. Follow this trail about 200 meters and then to the right is a gnarly down hill. It is all down hill from here. When you come to a road after about 2 km follow the road down about 1 km then on the left there is another gnarly down hill and keep following this single track all the way to the bottom. You will have to cross some roads along the way but the path always picks up right across the road.
Summary: The first part of the trail is kind of crappy, unless you like techinical uphill riding. The second section is sweet. It's really techinical, but not will all the ridiculous drops and whatnot associated with technical riding. The last part is a nice change. It's fast and smooth.

Summary: I don't wanna get off on a rant, but I didn't care for this trail as much as I thought I would. I think it was because It was kinda hyped up as, I quote from some locals as "not quite like the North shore, but still good & fun". So, I guess I was expecting a bunch of stunts & such. To the trail builder (or to potential ones) at the "subway Bun" log, why didn't the trail go down from there?? Your in that awesome old growth forest with lotsa logs to built stuff, & the terrain is nice & steep, I thought the trail shoulda kept goin down right there. But instead ya took it out of those nice trees into the scrub bush. On the positive, the trail is tight & there is a couple of real technical spots. On the most part, I thought an intermediate to advanced trail. To all those that might freak out about this review, remember, it's just my opinion.
Recommended Route: As above

Summary: We came, we saw, we conquered. I wish I could have said that. I'm now sold on full suspension. I tried this trail on my Brodie Nucleus, nice hardtail but not really suited for the top section. Thanks also to Control Tech, love the new riser bar but way too wide for the middle section of this trail, my hands are still recovering. While I'm still there, I no longer swear by my 747's, I haven't bailed as much in the past year as I did on Subway. As all the other reviews have said, this is one incredible trail. It has way more than I could handle, I one day want to see someone tame this trail.I knew I was in over my head when I went off the first log drop and flew over the bars. I'll try this trail again with a full suspension bike, for now it has beaten me.
Recommended Route: Shuttle up the fire road from the Salmon Arm Chamber of Commerce signs.

Summary: Rubberhead has all the technical elements that one looks for in a trail. Steep sections, drops, tight switchbacks, bridges, logs and speed. Somehow, the trail manages to do this with amazing flow. It doesn,t throw too much at you all at once. It is brken into three main sections by road crossings. The top section is the most technically demanding, the middle less, and the bottom even less still. The trial scares beginners, challenges intermediates, and taunts experts, to beat it again. You may not like it the first time, but you will probably be back.
Recommended Route: Shuttle up the fire road near the Salmon Arm info pull off on the Trans Canada. Follw the main road up to the 7.5 km range, where the road does a left switchback. The trialhead isto your right. The trail climbs a bit before dropping down. The trail ends in a open area. The road from here meets up with the fire road you drove up.
