Neds Atomic Dustbin

Neds starts slowly at the end of the Old Mushroom Parking Lot with a few tiny drops and roots. After crossing a small stram, it turns to the left and picks up speed as it edges onto the slope of the mountain. Basically, from here on down, Neds is a big series of drops and long run-outs, interspersed with some steeps and a couple tight switchbacks. most of the trial is better at a decent clip, but beware of some really nasty drops. One descends through the middle of a big route mass. RESIST the temptation to try riding around on the bank on the right side...you'll be hurtin'. Find the line right through the middle of the roots and stay back. If I can do it, so can you. Neds can be done if you keep your speed up, and stay off your front brakes. Take the left side turnout near the bottom flats to meet up with the Bridle Trail, which will take you back doen to Riverside Drive.
If you're a pussy, ride Mt. Seymour highway to the Vancouver lookout, then take the trail on the downhill side of the road. Keep right to the the Old Mushroom parking lot. Ned's starts on the N.W. corner. If you aren't a sissy, grind your way all the way up Old Buck to the Old Mushroom Lot, then find the trail. I personally prefer to start at the Seymour river Riverside drive), hammer my way across the Bridle and other trails to the bottom of Old Buck, and then grind up to the Mushroom. Better workout, and more fun drops and rocks.

Summary: this is an extremely fun trail with lots of fun drops. lots of ladders. one 12 ft gap jump that is totally doable and totally wicked fun. after the second ladder drop you can turn right if you want to find a wicked 6 ft huck, or go strait if you want to ride a wicked teeter totter. a wicked double as you come out under the power lines. needs lots of speed to clear it. alot of speed indeed.

Summary: I love this trail. Seems like lots of others do too as every time I ride it there's a lot of traffic. Beginners (well, some experience required) to advanced can do this ride and really enjoy it. It's not boring; the better rider you become, the faster you'll try and do it. It'a a great downhill ride. There are a couple of technical points (ladders, big drop). And there's a lot of riders who just shuttle to the top and ride down. Saw one guy riding with no chain. Asked if he needed some help/parts to fix it, and he said "no thanks - I started with no chain. It's all downhill!". Enjoy the ride - I do, and I'm a little bit better rider every time I do the dustbin...
