Weekend Warrior Summary: Some of the sweetest xc single track around. The locals have done a great job creating a fun and challenging xc experience. Not for the DH crowd but if you are looking for sweeping trails through second growth forest this is the place. Recommended Route: Go to the bike shop and pick up a map. $$$ goes to trail maintenance. Better yet, find a experienced local to steer you along the best routes.
Climb to lookout (great view) and from their pick your routes. The maps shows difficulty for each trail so you don't have to worry about getting in over your head.
Make sure you do No Horses.

, from Hornby Island Summary: I suggest that you do ride with a local as there are many unmarked trails that only the locals would know about. Most locals would not mind giving you a tour. P.S. Daryle has got his head up his ass Recommended Route: For serious Spead- "The way" , "four dead" , "no horses", "washing machine" FOR FREERIDE/DOWNHILL- ride the very popular (considered by many as good as the north shore) Trail "your mom"

, from Vancouver BC Canada Summary: Overall Hornby trails are some of the cleanest fastest "old school" single track on the coast of BC. Thousands of hours by local riders have buffed the rolling terrain into a maze of smooth bermed singletrack that is a joy to ride. These trails are perfect for the burned out "shore" rider who wants to ride with his girlfriend, the xc racer who wants to have some fun and the beginner riders who need less technical trails. DH guys and big hit bikes stay home as there is no shuttling and no drops. Shouts to Tig, Sasha, Jer, Al, Yana, and all y'all riders past and present! Recommended Route: Straight to the bike shop! Donate a couple of bucks to the trail fund (it actually goes into trail maintenance!) and grab a map, otherwise you will miss most of the best routes. Other recommended trails in the same area: Monkey's Revenge for more shore style. It is behind Courtney about an hour by car from Hornby.

, from Victoria Summary: Obviously Daryl missed the whole mountain. Hornby has been the host for a premiere mountain bike race for the last twelve years, and people wouldn't be coming back if the riding sucks. No, this is definitely not north shore riding... Suprise! you aren't on the north shore! If you like groomed cross country, there isn't anywhere better. The only thing I agree with Daryl about is the campsite, but if that is his attitude towards islanders, he should stay off of the islands, and head back into the cave he came out of.... Recommended Route: Number One... Tribune Bay and Helliwell parks are walk only, regardless. Go to the Bike shop, get the detailed, well written map, and get up the mountain!
