Trail Directions
Take 232nd St. down to the road going to Golden Ears Park. Follow the road up to Mike Lake, where you take a left. Follow the gravel road to the parking lot at the lake. Go over the yellow gate and up the fire-road. Go past the switchback trailhead and continue up the fire-road till you see the bottom of another trail (about 2km). You can hike up the trail or keep riding the fire-road till you reach the Alouette Mountain trailhead. There's a sign, you can't miss it. Alternately you can just ride down the switchback trail.

Summary:
This is a fun old school downhill single track. Small drops and some good rock and route sections. Let it rip and its a blast.

About two thirds of the way up the trail watch for a narrow single track that goes off the main trail to the right and up. It is much more fun and will let you bypass the two uphill sections of the main trail making it a pure downhill run on the way down.

If you go up the trail and take a few small breathers it takes about 35 minutes to get to the top. If you go up the fire access road it takes 50 minutes with a few small breathers unless you are a serious XC rider. My nine speed, 1st gear downhill rig went up without to much strain but I would highly recommend just going up the trail.

Recommended Route:
(Follow the Golden Ears Park signs) 232nd to Fern cresent and than turn left at Mike Lake. Turn left on the gravel road and stop at the small parking lot across from the second trail head which has a sign that says Eric Dunning Trail at the bottom. That is the trail. Why it is named that at the bottom and the Switch back trail at the top is any bodies guess, but its the same trail.

Other recommended trails in the same area:
Bear moutain, Heritage Park, Woodlot

Summary:
Nice easy climb on the fireroad, took only 23 min. to get to the top of the trailhead from the parking lot. The Switchback trail is lots of fun nice switchbacks, some steep ans ruff sections with a few creek crossings. Small drops and jumps. The faster you go the better it is, just under 7 min down in the rain.

Recommended Route:
Take the fireroad up from Mike lake parking lot and turn right at the Switchback trail sign.

Reviewed by: THSS Mountain Bike Team , from Maple Ridge

Summary:
This is a fairly technical section of trail, but loads and loads of fun. The switchback trail is good to learn the principles of mountain-biking on. Both trails are a great ride. No rating can come close to how good this trail is, so we'll settle for a 5.

Recommended Route:
Most people turn off at the switchback trailhead, but its worth going to the very top of the trail, much more rewarding.

Other recommended trails in the same area:
Woodlot, GiantKiller, CrazyCarpenter, BearMountain
