Summary:
Starting at: Whitemud Park (Edmonton River Valley) area- Good times for endurance fun.....will connect you through to Fort Edmonton area system and from there, any of the 122 km of conventional style trail this park system connects (The Ribbon of Green), plus all multi-use shannigans you can find (the City officially labels anything wider then your shoulders as free game, including animal trails). Most everything awesome is unmarked, so if you are uninspired with your findings it it's 99.9 % your own fault for not looking close enough....may not seem a travel destination but will fill the mountain urge for any city dweller on a weeknight, as many hours as you could want...(I once did 70K in an evening and only scratched the surface of this park system)... has some mountain style cliffs that many hard cores have cultivated on the down low... the long Edmonton winters keep this area relatively unexplored by most city folk

Recommended Route:
...my experience for good stuff: look for flattened grass trails next to houses or fences bordering the river valley crests, usually not more obvious then a rabbit trail, or areas where the Whitemud and Fox drive free ways have caused bikers to find alternate means to cross down into the valley IE: paths starting on top of a large shoulder off the Whitemud and becoming bottlenecked as they hit the river valley drop (because you can't really bike on these roads)...don't expect anything off a major throughfare area to be grade A until a few Km into, but then expect to see mountain quality forest, steeps and solitude, expecially in the months April-June, October-November..this area seems simple to those who do not venture in, the more you look the more you'll find, as this city doesn't like to advertise....

Other recommended trails in the same area:
Going East near Connors road, on the South side of the valley, up the North Sakatchewan... also have a stab at some of the staircases that will lead you back up to the platuea (the one by the new fort Edmonton footbridge will give anybody a way to train themselves proper)

Summary:
Excellent Canadian x-c singletrack. some sketchy, rooty downhill chutes and some grinding technical climbs real mountain biking where you earn your downhill thrills via technical singletrack and relatively gut wrenching climbs. what a blast ! earn your beer.

Recommended Route:
Under the bridge from snow valley any way you have to
to avoid the pin head bylaw wannabe police that sometimes park at the normal entrances to this trail.
Ride the west side of the creek and explore the singletrack that basically follows the creek bank south
