Summary:
If you're camping in Banff and find road cycling boring, go for the hiking/biking trails in the woods around here. You're bound to catch a few sights of wildlife (I got a few glimpses of elk and a rather curious wood pine marten) whilst enjoying the views one of the best national parks in Canada. Hikers are friendly (most are Canadian after all) and well aware to give way for riders. Trials are well connected throughout the park, there'll be a few sections of road riding you'll have that connects, but are short.

Recommended Route:
I took a round trip from the Hoodos trail through the Bow River Hoodoos Trial. Taking a good number of breaks to enjoy the park views, the ride only took about 2 hours. There were a few staircases I had to stop and pull my bike over, but right after there would be small brief enjoyable downhill sections. Half of the trail you get to sneak peaks at one of the aqua blue rivers here. Had about 4-5 decent climbs and the same amount of easy flowing downhill sections. Not too hard of a trail, but not boring either.
