Ridden Trail: Every few months

Cross Country Rider Summary: This is a really fun and pretty challenging trail. It's a fast trail (should you choose to ride it fast), and there's steep and off-camber sections for your riding pleasure. My rating of '5' is for this trail being in Calgary and literally ten minutes from the University of Calgary. You'll find better riding at Minnewanka and Cox Hill for sure, but this is a great trail that's totally worth your time. Recommended Route: Definitely from Home Road towards Bowness. The trail has steep sections, so going the other way isn't advisable... Other recommended trails in the same area: I do enjoy Edworthy, and on the other side of town Fish Creek is a great place to ride. It's been a while since I rode at COP (1999, to be exact!), but that's another place to try...

Ridden Trail: Once a week

Weekend Warrior Summary: For those that think the only technical riding in Calgary is located in Fish Creek or COP should try this trail out. This trail is carved in the side of a steep hill and is very challenging including lots of rollers with uphills and downhills. When you get to the bottom there is an area where you can try your luck riding off logs and jumps and other stunts. From here you can hook up with the paved bike trail or stay on the single trak for basically as long as you want. There is easily more kms of singletrak in this area than Fish Creek. Recommended Route: West of Marketmall. You can park beside home road at the bottom of the hill. Other recommended trails in the same area: There is tons of singletrak in this area just start riding and you will see dozens of trails carved in the side of the hills.

Weekend Warrior
, from Calgary Summary: Unbelievably fun trail. Some advanced level needed. Not for the week of mind or heart. This trail can run as long as you want along the Bow river valley. Various connections to paved paths also. There is a part of this trail that is nicknamed Sideshow Bob which has some trick riding including logs, teeter toters, ramps and jumps, and various other skill testing obstacles. There is even a stack of old metal building materials that will challenge your balance skills. Recommended Route: If you park along Bowmont park and find a path down the hill side, the trail runs along that hill about half way down. Other recommended trails in the same area: Anything along the Bow river valley from underneath the massive Stoney Trail bridge, trough Bowness, Shouldice, and Edworthy parks.
