, from Edmonton, AB. Summary: A Great X-country singletrack trail ranging from rough to downright cantankerous. Starting out with a gradual incline you make your way past Marjorie Lake, and then Caledonia Lake. As you make your way up hill past Minnow Lake and High Lakes the trail slowly begins to decline throwing roots, rocks and more roooots at you. After your ass thanks you they invented full suspension, you continue on past Saturday Night Lake were things start to improve as you quickly make your way down hill towards Cabin Lake. At the end of Cabin Lake turn right and fly down some quick switchbacks and make your way back to the trailhead. With the exception of a few tough technical uphill sections and lots of roots this trail lets you try your hand at eveyrthing. I give it a rating of 4 out of 5. Recommended Route: Start at the parking lot at the south west side of Jasper off Cabin Creek Drive and follow trail #3 riding clockwise. Other recommended trails in the same area: Valley of Five Lakes & Wabasso Lake, Palisades Lookout, Overlander, Fryatt Creek

, from Edmonton, Alberta, Canada Summary: I think this review should be split into 3 sections: 1) The Climb - With the extra 5kms added on all I can say is.... "oof... ooof.... cmon granny gear... oof...". The climb just never seems to stop. You climb hill after hill and just when you think its finally over... its not. This climb will test the legs of even the best-conditioned bikers. Some can make the whole trail in about 2.1 hrs but the average biker may take over 3-4 hrs to complete it. A word of advice... take a nice easy steady pace uphill.. its no fun being tired when you finally get to the downhill. 2)The Roots - OMG the freakin roots... roots ...roots. The middle section of this trail is soooo rooty you can hardly believe it. Some parts of the trail are so rooty that you cant really ride them if its at all slippery. The worst sections are still in the uphill section just to make it all that much more pounding. 3) The Downhill (JAHOVA!) - After you reach the waterfall... its the start of the downhill. The trail gradually moves downhill until you get to a very steep rocky section which is totally fun. Get behind the seat and pick a good line because there are some very very bad lines to take. After you scare the crap outta yourself by screaming down the rocks, its time to start the afterburners and enjoy some single track downhill at over 60km/h. You can go as fast as you can handle. The trail is windy with unexpected rocks guarding the middle sections of the trail so if you are flying.. be prepared to pick the bike into the air. Wooooooooooooooooooooo! I nearly sod my armor down this section we were going so fast. Overall - a cardio blast followed by a great downhill. I really enjoyed the trail. Recommended Route: Climb up to the trail from the parking lot behind the Jasper Pool. It adds about an extra 5km to the ride. I think the trail is better ridden counter-clockwise.. the downhills are more fun that way. Other recommended trails in the same area: Valley of The Five Lakes, The Overlander, Ho-Chee-Min

, from Calgary Summary: This trail is pretty good. Very nice and rolly terrain. If riding in the summer time bring mosquito repellant! Uphill sections are not to steep and but can be quite long. Recommended Route: Start at north end of Jasper town site

, from Edmonton, AB Summary: The gravel and soil seems to drain well on most of the trail so even after a bit of rain it is in very good shape.(read on) The route is pretty much all singletrack and there are a couple of significant climbs that will have you leaning over the bars. I think it's more like 10K where the tough stuff starts. Very wet soil up to your hubs at times and mixed in with a few rocks and roots. A few bridges to cross and one beautiful waterfall.I've done this complete loop a number of times and always find it challenging, fun and a great way to improve my technical, slow speed abilities. Recommended Route: As outlined in previous reviews. Get the Mountain Biking Trail Guide from the Park Information Office or from Freewheel Cycle. Stick to the trail, usually well marked. Make sure you stay on the trail all the way to Cabin Lake and cross over the far end (east?) of the lake, you'll end up on an old road which leads to some singletrack switchbacks which are some last minute fun Other recommended trails in the same area: Maligne Canyon from Old Fort Point to 6th bridge. Wahoo!
