, from Edmonton, AB. Summary: Starting at the parking lot make your way around the lake. The road/trail immediately begins to climb. Grunt your way up the 7.7km to the junction to the Palisades lookout. After having taken a short breather, continue on up the more steeper 3.3km to the lookout. After enjoying the great view of the Valley, which is worht the ride up, strap yourself in and prepare for the thrilling ride back down. For me it was about 1hr45min up to the lookout and an awesome 20min. back down. If you love speed this one is great. I got up to 70km/h. Technically this trail is not hard, but you do need to be in some kind of shape. I give this trail a 4 out of 5. Recommended Route: In the town of Jasper, follow Pyramid Lake Road for 7km to its end at a locked gate beside Pyramid Lake. Other recommended trails in the same area: Signal Mountain

, from Edmonton, AB Summary: This is listed as a beginner trail.. I think that can be a bit misleading. The first 8 K or so are not technically challening at all, but you are gaining significant altitude. I would suggest it's fine for a beginner if that beginner is in good health and has some experience pedalling. The intersection to turn right and go up to the old look out is not signed but you'll know it when you see it, starts as a road and disappears into single track in brushes. A few fallen logs on the path that beginners will have to stop and walk over. The view from the top is astounding and worth the climb. The ride down is fast and fun. For this 37 year old it's about 1:45 to the lookout and about 22 minutes from the lookout to the parking lot. wahoo!! If you did this trail every day all summer you'd have legs like tree trunks and enough lung power to climb Everest without 02. Recommended Route: As far as I know there's only one. Start from the parking lot at the end of Pyramid Lake Road and go up.
