East Fish Creek Park

It startes out with some rocks on the side of the the river bank, its in some long grass, off the paved trail, and then before you know it your in a bunch of pine trees on the side of the "cliff" navigating over roots, up slopes, around corners, dips, and mud(if its rained recently) you'll end up back on a paved trail right near Deerfoot trail, heading toward Mackenzie and such. You can go all the way downtown from there.

Trail Directions
Its near Mackenzie, when you enter fish creek park, from mackenzie you go over that bridge that crosses the bow river. Turn right, theres a big ass hill(paved) right there, don't go up it, instead turn off to the right and go along the river bank. You can get there from almost anywhere in fish creek, in fact theres a parking lot in Deer Run, about 5 minutes from the actual trail. Its so easy to get around fish creek, just follow the paved road(if you don't know your way around) in the direction that you want to go, and you can go all the way to the calgary tower, in downtown.

Summary:
Pretty good singletrack but too bad it's so short. There's some tame singletrack heading from here to Riverbend (east-side of river). Anybody know of some freeride stuff around here besides Riverbend?

Recommended Route:
Pete's got the best directions. The bridge crosses the Bow River between Douglasdale & Queensland. I prefer south to north but either way is good.

Other recommended trails in the same area:
Not much I've seen in this neck of the woods but you can combine this trail with the drops/jump park in Riverbend (SE corner) and the short singletrack in SE Fish Creek: Just north of Sikome Rd there's a gravel bike path that heads west up a steep hill to a parking lot. At the top of the hill there's a bench and a big, green electrical box(?) and antenna. Ride around the box and you'll see the start. Point-to-point which takes about 1/2hr and best ridden east to west. Did it couple times last year and much of it looked like a barely-used hiking trail (takes some time to find all of it).

Summary:
Riding this trail beats all the paved stuff in the area. It's the only way to get your ya ya's out without going to West Fish Creek or K-country.
***Note*** this trail took a mountain biker's life in July of 2001 (broken neck). Wear your lid.

Recommended Route:
From the Douglasdale pedestrian bridge get onto the westside of the pathway. Turn north for 100 meters and look for the single track on your right. This trail is only about 1.5 km oneway but it contains several variations that let you make it into a 3-4 km track loop.

Summary:
Great trail! Doesn't take long but it has almost everything (except that North Shore stuff). Fun in both directions. It doesn't take long but it's worth the detour. I would have given it 5 chilies if it were longer.

Other recommended trails in the same area:
The only other "fun" trails I know of are all in West Fist Creek.

check the above review

Recommended Route:
I made a mistake on the review i put. Its not near Mackezie, thats a different bridge, its near Doglasdale. The rest of the review is accurate, just replace the "Mackenzie" part with "Doglasdale"
